Desperate Villain Danny AU
(this is a 17 yr old danny)
It started out slowly.
First, a few of Danny's less active Rouges stopped showing up at all. He didn't really notice, and just assumed that they had finally had their Fill of their Obsession for a while and would simmer down for a bit.
Then, some more of his Rouges stopped showing up. No big deal, but he is getting a little concerned for them. They had definitely not had their fill of their Obsessions yet, why did they stop?
Then, the worst started happen. All of his actual Ghost Friends start to disappear. Ember, Kitty, Johnny, even Amorpho, they all start to not show up at all in the Living World.
He goes looking for them in Realms, but he can't find any of them whatsoever. He tries asking around, but everybody else noticed the disappearances much earlier than him and began to hide away from whatever was taking all of the strong Ghosts. He can't find anybody, and the ones he does find won't tell him anything (or don't know themselves)
It takes weeks of searching, but eventually he gets his answer.
The GIW show up in Amity again after a period of absolutely no activity. They have stepped up their operations HARD. Advanced Ghost Hunting Equipment, Much more Competent Agents, and most worrying of all, they seem to know that Phantom is friends with Sam, Tucker, and Danny Fenton.
The GIW comes to his house for a Meeting with his parents, where he overhears them offering his parents a position in their Organization as Head Scientists. While there they also manage to plant Bugs in Danny's room somehow. Although he finds them quickly enough and destroys them.
And then, one night during dinner while his parents are ranting about the GIWs Labs, they mention something that cinches it for Danny.
"And today we even got to Dissect one of the Spooks! It was that Mind Controlly one, you know the one with the blue firey hair stuff that sang a bunch! We're going back tomorrow to continue our Study, this time we'll see how long it'll pretend to experience pain before it decides to give up on tricking us!"
That night, Danny packed up all his things, destroyed the Ghost Portal alongside everything else in his parents Lab, and left his house.
He tracked down the GIW Base, saved Ember from her Cell, and decimated the surrounding Area. No survivors, none of the research is preserved, and he left the Site Director alive to question him.
Turns out, the GIW had managed to Reverse Engineer the Ghost Portal from that brief period of time where they had taken control of Fenton Works. They had been using their own Portal to kidnap any Ghost they could get their hands on. Using the research from those subjects, they perfected their Ghost Hunting Tech and started going after the bigger fish.
"But good luck finding it, Ecto Scum! The Portals location was hidden to everybody, even me!" He said.
"Where are the others!" Danny cried. He was losing control of his appearance by this point. After seeing what they had done to Ember, he was too angry to maintain his Humanoid Form successfully. Even now, with most of his control, he could hear the Static in the air around him, and see the Glitching of his hands as they clenched this Monsters clothes.
"Scattered!" He said with a crazed laugh, "We knew we couldn't contain all of them, so we send them to all of our sites across the Country! You'll never find them!"
Without another word, Danny plowed his arm through the man's chest.
He turned around, picking up Embers weakened Body, before beginning his long flight to Wisconsin. Vlad still owed him a few Favors after all, and honestly his mentorship offers seemed VERY Tempting right now.
(Why reject him if you don't care about keeping your dad alive anymore?)
...
The JLA had recently received a distress signal from somewhere in the middle of some random Forest in Illinois, but when they got to the location, all they found was a crater filled with the ruins of some kind of Military Base, and so so many Bodies.
They had managed to figure out that this was a Government Site owned by an organization called the GIW. A Paranormal Investigation Wing of the Government focused on the study and capture of Supernatural Beings called Ecto-Entities, otherwise referred to as Ghosts.
As it turns out, an Ecto-Entity that had been terrorizing the local town for a few years now had made a drastic change in normal behavior and had attacked the GIW Base that had been posted there.
They would have destroyed it years ago, but this one was unnaturally powerful. It had eluded their capture and terrorized the Town for years, but they had too much pride to contact the JLA and admit that they needed help. And honestly until now, they didn't really need it. The Entity had been entirely confined to the singular town, and had not strayed from that behavioral Pattern in the 3 years since it's inital sighting. They had made the difficult choice to leave it there, sacrificing one town in exchange for the rest of the country.
But now they did need their help. This Entity, this Phantom, was one of the most powerful beings that had ever recorded, maybe even The Most Powerful. The fact that it had left the Secluded town it usually frequented meant that it was loose to wreak havoc across the rest of the world.
The JLA Needed to Find this thing, and Fast.

Actual Scientists Jack & Maddie AU Part 4
Part 1 & 2
Part 3
Explaining The Papers (™) to Frostbite takes a While (also ™).
Though with no more imminent threat of “Vlad maybe finding out he’s the ghost king and becoming Insufferable (also also ™) about it” Danny was feeling a lot less stressed - Sam and Tucker, too, if the fact that they were actually drinking their tea now instead of just barely sipping at it was any indication - or they could’ve only just cooled enough to actually drink, the FF did tend to overestimate the level of heat they could tolerate just a tad.
Not to say that he wasn’t still stressed, given the whole “the Justice League is trying to summon ME” thing. But like. They were reaching out hoping for peace, not hoping to skin/dissect/exterminate him.
Plus they don’t know how to summon him; he figures he has time. Hopefully enough to get Frostbite’s advice.
And mostly to cool his own nerves, because now that he knows they did try to help and are helping the Justice League is Cool again! And they want to meet him!
Well, they want to meet the ghost king, but they already watched him! They thought he was a capable hero!
Danny isn’t really used to getting positive feedback, so being called “good hands” by Superman - Superman! The hero! The Alien hero! (well, one of them. Martian Manhunter is also amazing but he hasn’t complimented Danny in person yet so he doesn’t have any expectations for Danny to live up to. Maybe. Hypothetically).
The JL is so cool and they think he’s cool! Or at least capable! Except now he has to impress them not just as a hero but as a king?
Yeah.
Suffice to say, Danny is now a little nervous.
(And also maybe redirecting his nerves intentionally to be about the JL so he doesn’t have to breathe into a bag about being probably the only thing between the Zone and eventual total dimensional collapse because Frostbite was very ‘this is normal and okay’ about it but it’s eventual total dimensional collapse [ALL OF THEM] and it is Danny’s problem. But no, he’s just nervous about meeting the JL. Totally.)
Reciting pretty much his whole life story - well, the basics of his parents’ work and then pretty much everything from the portal onward - gives him time to untense, and honestly, getting it all out to a mostly uninvolved third party - one he likes and trusts - really is a weight off his shoulders.
He’ll never tell Jazz; the amount of I-told-you-so-energy she’d leech into the air would be unbearable.
Sam and Tucker tag in here and there too, and mostly take over when they get to the part where the GIW bought Fenton Works for a short while to try and destroy the zone. Danny winces at the memory of his behavior back then.
The explanation runs for longer than it could have, given the aside they make when they get to his parents’ theories.
Frostbite is quick to confirm the combat-as-a-positive-social-behavior thing, and it turns out Sam is right about how to tell the difference.
Of course, Danny thinks they were all trying to kill him the rest of the way, but then that’s not a concern most ghosts have, so Frostbite offers his own perspective.
Skulker wants to hang his pelt on a wall: clearly unfriendly.
Technus is just having fun - enjoying playing with new technology in the living realm and throwing Danny around/being thrown around. He’s a friend. The whole world domination idea isn’t malicious as far as he’s concerned, because damage to the living realm doesn’t mean much to ghosts. What do they care about the living? What is the value of a single world as collateral when weighed against the games of ghosts?
If Danny wants him to stop that, Frostbite tells him, he can just propose a new game.
Ember genuinely just wanted a powerboost from the Earth that first time, but her returns since are a gesture of friendship.
Spectra definitely hates him though. Which is good. He wouldn’t know how to feel if Frostbite had said that that whole mess was an attempt at friendship.
As for the thing with his parents, Frostbite compares it to winning a tournament only to find out the other participants lost intentionally. You haven’t really won a competition if the competitors were not competing.
Like going in for a handshake only to get a “too slow” - even more insulting if it’s the first “too slow” you’ve ever gotten - Tucker suggests.
Or like asking a parent to a hug and only getting a wave. Not even a high-five.
They each go through another three cups of tea before the story winds down, Frostbite doing adding little more than the occasional nod or noise of acknowledgement - barring the social combat explanation, of course.
It’s nice, Danny thinks, to have an adult that actually listens. Even if said adult is a dead yeti.
“You have given me much to think on Great One, Friends Sam and Tucker,” he says after the three of them finally run out of words, giving each of them a nod. “And soon, we shall have much more to discuss. First, however, it seems that I have a meeting to call. And you have living needs that require attending to yet. Eat, rest, and, if you would, return here… let’s say the day after tomorrow? Then we can begin to discuss the…issues. At hand.”
Back in the Specter Speeder, Tucker wonders aloud if “call a meeting” is code for yelling at the Observants.
Then he looks at his PDA and realizes how late it’s gotten - namely, past all of their curfews - and they promptly turn the conversation to getting their story straight (and three backups because they’re all feeling paranoid with how high-stakes everything suddenly became. Not that the occasional ghost looking to wreck earth wasn't already high-stakes, but the whole political aspect made it feel... different).
***
Danny is thankful it’s summer vacation at the moment, because the next morning is a Monday.
He doesn’t know how he’d manage school with his mind miles away wondering about things like “how to king” and “how to maintain the fabric of reality” and other totally normal, non-stressful topics.
Just normal high schooler things.
His parents are gone before he’s even up, leaving a note for him and Jazz on the kitchen table.
They eat a quiet breakfast together.
The whole house is quiet. It’s unnatural, he thinks, and the small frown on Jazz’ face tells him she feels the same.
They normally enjoy the brief lulls of quiet that their parents leave behind, but this is perhaps the first time they’ve ever missed breakfast - well, the first time they haven’t been in the house during breakfast at least. A welding torch, clanging metal, clinking glass, minor explosions, and excited shouting is the usual background noise of their morning meal - whether from the basement door or at the table itself.
This time, the silence is disquieting.
Even more so since it means that Danny could, at any time, be teleported somewhere. He really should have asked Frostbite about how that works before they left - they’d already missed curfew anyway.
After they’ve both finished eating, he takes the opportunity to fill Jazz in on the whole… everything.
She is, to put it lightly, Not Impressed.
“-s bad enough they let you fight Pariah Dark in the first place! You should never have been in that position! I know that you’re a capable fighter Danny, but you’re fourteen-”
“I’m almost fifteen,” he grumbles.
“You’re not yet fifteen,” she says, glaring into the distance, expression practically snarling. Danny thinks she might be imagining strangling an Observant, based on the… choice words she’d had for them earlier. “And they want you to be a king!”
Tucker chooses that moment to arrive, walking right into the path of where Jazz is glaring and freezing until Sam shoves him out of her way to close the door and drag him into the kitchen.
“Who spat in your cereal?” she asks, moving to sit and kicking the fourth chair out for Tucker.
“Whoever or whatever is responsible for deciding that a fourteen year old child should be king when there are no doubt numerous thousand-plus year old candidates who don’t have human lives they still need to attend to!” She bellows, throwing her hands up in frustration.
The trio exchange a glance while she takes a few calming breaths.
Danny kind of wants to point out that he isn’t a child, he’s a teenager. And she’s barely older than him.
But he does have some sense of self-preservation, even if there’s only so much self left to preserve. Heh.
Then she gasps.
“Danny! You’re still half alive!”
“Er, yes?”
“Maybe that’s why the Watching Wraiths didn’t say anything! Maybe you can’t be the Ghost King if you’re still partly alive!”
“But Frostbite said-” Tucker starts, only to be cut off by Jazz.
“Frostbite could be wrong.” She sniffs. “And even if he isn’t you there are millenia before it becomes a problem. The Zone can wait for you to graduate high school before it goes demanding things of you. Or longer.”
The words are decisive.
Still….
“The Justice League-”
“Can cope. They’ll be a little paranoid about retaliation, but a little paranoia won’t kill them. And maybe letting them stew a bit will teach them to be more active about taking down genocidal organizations before they hurt so many people.”
“That’s a great idea,” Sam says, tone saying the opposite, “except the part where they’re actively working on figuring out how to summon the ghost king - who is Danny - and are probably also going to try and make contact with Phantom at some point - who is also Danny.”
Jazz frowns.
“Well. You don’t have to be a king to talk to the Justice League. Just tell them you’re still too young - which is true - or that the coronation is going to take a long time to plan - which, according to Frostbite, would be a reasonable claim. And also true since you will not be taking the throne until you are at least 18 if the Fenton Peeler and I have anything to say about it.”
“Uh. I don’t know if the Peeler is the best idea. With your…aim.” Tucker cringes, shrinking back in his seat when her unhappy frown snaps to him.
Then she looks thoughtful.
“You know what. I’ll just use a specter deflector. You mentioned before how humans are ghosts in the ghosts zone; see if they still feel like making a child a king when they’ve got an unstrikable target punching their lights out about it.”
“Please don’t antagonize a bunch of ghosts who could try and attack you while you're sleeping,” Danny pleads.
“It’s bad enough that all this has impacted your sleep and grades and attendance records so much; I’m not going to let a bunch of ghost nobles - or whatever they’re called - mess things up for you even more. If they don’t like my proposals they can un-friendly fight me about it, and if you’re worried about retribution I can turn on the house defenses in my room when I sleep. But I am not letting this go.”
She stands.
“Since he didn’t give you a time, we’ll leave to visit Frostbite after breakfast tomorrow-”
“We?” the trio ask hesitantly.
“Of course. But for now, there’s something else we need to do, little brother.”
That said, she turns and heads for the basement.
Danny and Tucker blink at the abrupt departure, while Sam just frowns thoughtfully.
The three exchange one more meaningful glance, before sharing a shrug and moving to follow her.
They arrive in the basement to Fenton Fighting Ring rising out of the floor.
“Uh, Jazz?” Danny tries.
“We’re going to fight!”
In stark contrast to both her words and her furious demeanor upstairs, her tone and expression are bright and eager.
“Um. That’s. Nice, but you know that’s a ghost thing, right?” he offers hesitantly.
“I mean, I still fight with Dora,” Sam adds, the traitor.
“Thank you Sam,” Jazz starts. “But even without that example; you are part ghost, brother mine. That means fighting loved ones is a you thing. I love you, so of course I’m going to fight you.”
“Mom and Dad theorized - and Frostbite confirmed - that the fighting is a social behavior. Many social behaviors are also needs. Members of social species that are not allowed to socialize become stressed and their health worsens. Humans who don’t communicate with other humans for too long experience negative side effects, too little physical contact can lead to depressed mood and so forth,” she monologues as she moves into the ring.
“As you’re still half human, neglecting the social needs of your ghost half could negatively impact your wellbeing. Also. I’m your sister and I love you. If I could never hug you I’d be bummed. This is like the ghost equivalent of that. So. Square up, little brother.”
Danny is kind of touched, actually.
Still.
“...Don’t you at least want an anti-creep stick?” he asks, gesturing at her general lack of ghost gear as he slips intangibly through the ropes around the ring.
“Nope!” She says cheerfully. “For this match we’ll be doing no powers and no weapons - just basic human strength and skill. We can try other kinds of fights later.”
Danny pales.
“No way! You’re a 4th degree black belt!”
“9th!” she corrects, still cheerfully - and she clearly means well, but for Danny that smile is beginning to look like an omen of ill fortune.
“That’s even worse!” he cries. “I’m only a blue belt! Barely!”
“I ~told~ you you should’ve stuck with mom’s training,” she sing-songs teasingly.
He cringes, but takes a stance.
“Now let's see how much you remember.”
That’s the only warning he gets before she’s in his face.
His strength, speed, stamina, endurance, and durability are all completely back to baseline in human form unless he actively uses his flight to compensate, but one thing he notes as the fight draws on is that his reaction speed is still the same.
Even so, it’s painfully obvious just how beyond him she is in terms of skill.
Without any powers to fall back on, Jazz runs circles around him like it’s nothing.
His reaction speed means that he sees everything she’s doing and that he has time to bring his arms up, but he keeps lagging trying to recall forms and getting shoved around for it, the defenses he manages too poor to be of any use.
Other times he lags because he’s suppressing instinctual power usage.
And multiple times he accidentally, instinctively abandons proper stance all together, habitually falling into the stance of his usual “feral racoon” style of fighting - as Jazz had one called it - which isn’t much of a stance at all in a fight with no powers. Especially given how it's not made for someone fighting on the ground. She takes brutal advantage of every opening.
He’s on the back foot from the first second of the fight, and it’s obvious that it only lasted for longer than one because Jazz allowed it to, testing him.
It’s frustrating that he’s doing so poorly - he knows he’s doing poorly - but despite that, he really is having fun.
It reminds him of the training spars at the Far Frozen - restrained skill set, fight with defined boundaries and win conditions-
Aaaaand evidently he let his mind wander too much.
And Jazz noticed.
And flipped him.
He’s thoroughly pinned in short order and he cannot for the life of him remember how to escape the hold short of cheating with intangibility.
“Uncle,” he calls.
Jazz pulls him to his feet and ruffles his hair.
He squawks indignantly, but she just chuckles.
"Good fight little brother," she calls as she slips between the ropes out of the ring.
"Our hero," Sam drawls as he follows.
Danny just pouts.
"That was just sad, man," Tucker ribs. "And I thought your early ghost fights were bad."
"I'd like to you do better against the 9th degree blackbelt," he grumbles.
"Don't fret, little brother. You'll improve with time," Jazz says as she rejoins them. "Though we'll have to do refreshers of all the previous levels first, given the amount of skill degradation I just saw. But with regular practice you'll back to your previous level and more in no time!"
"Uh. Refreshers?"
"Of course!"
"That seems a bit overkill just for sparring. Couldn't you just...wear a specter deflector or something? Then I can just not use karate."
Jazz, for the first time in a long time, levels him with a very serious look.
"You said that the reason Frostbite can't be the king instead is because he can't beat you in an all out fight. You told me the alternative."
She grabs him by the shoulders and stares into his eyes.
"Danny, Vlad already made a way to shut you away from your ghost powers. Frostbite may be unwilling to end you, and I don't think Vlad would. But you and I both know there are ghosts out there who would destroy you in a heartbeat for that power. And if Vlad has that kind of device, someone else could get one too. Ecto-weapons can give you a leg up if you get sealed away from your ghost powers, but you'll also need the skill to use them successfuly."
She lets go and steps back, tilting her head thoughtfully.
"Even with the ghost powers it's probably a good idea; the crown and ring might power you up but so did the exoskeleton. Clearly they aren’t the only power-ups out there so you can’t rely on strength alone. Skill could be the determining factor one day. And you already said you had fun," she smiles. "Come on little brother, give in to the karate side."
He grimaces.
"Didn't you say you were gonna make the royalty thing a non-issue for like three more years at least," he whines, slumping dramatically.
She raises a brow.
"A blackbelt isn't made in a day."
"Ugh, fine."
He's actually looking forward to it, but Jazz doesn't need to know that. He's duty-bound as a brother to be as annoyingly contrary about sibling bonding as possible, after all.
When Sam asks if they'll teach her and Tucker as well, Jazz is all too happy to include them - best not to have only one sparring partner, avoid forming bad habits and all that.
Both girls dutifully ignore Tucker's protests while they hash out a schedule. Danny pats his shoulder consolingly.

Evil Fenton Parents Meeting the Good Ones
It's basically that.
Maddie and Jack (the canon ones. Let's call them as is)
Mads and J (the evil AU ones).
........
Maddie and Jack were doing the "normal" stuff with Danny and Jazz, a happy family bonding time.... Fighting and helping ghosts and humans around Amity Park. Now that the Fentons have one thing in common, everyone is as close as they were before. It was all good and peachy when a new ghost came to Amity and had the whole Family portaled through somewhere else where clouds are grey and the streets are crowded.
Jack: Well... This can't get any weirder, won't it?
Jazz, eyeing Jack with worried looks: Dad!!
Jack: What?! Gotta let it come over and finish it faster!
Danny: Whoo... Boy... This is gonna be a loonnggg day.
Maddie: Awww, sweety, wouldn't that mean we'd get a long bonding time?
Jack: Great idea, Mads!
The family then found out that they were in Gotham but they didn't know anything of such a place before. And all the while the Fentons go around exploring the place and finding a way to get back (They found out that they're in a different reality due to seeing Maddie and Jack working with the GIW [they knew because of one big advertisement in a billboard])
Maddie: Well, that's horrifying.
Jack: Danny here must be a human then!
Danny, who knew that his parents despises the GIW even before knowing Danny is Phantom: Whoa. To think I'd see you guys work with them.
Jazz: Alright you three, stop dilly dallying. We still have a reality to get back to and put back a certain ghost to the ghost zone.
Maddie: Oh, Jazz. Can't we explore a bit more? For a ghost to be able to take us here just seems so fascinating.
Jazz: Eughh... Fine...
While they walked around the streets, the people would stare at them weirdly and were amazed to see the parents. Meanwhile the Danny in this reality was staring at them wide eyed at the corner of the alley.
Danny (the dissected one au): Did... Did they somehow clone me????
And the JL are freaking out when they see the Fentons being in two places rather than one because one, the evil ones are being held with them and two, the evil ones are also confused.
But Batman came in and theorized that the new Fentons may be in a different reality and thus, the new Fentons were invited to the Watchtower.
(I'm being honest, I literally have no idea if they would allow this or not but the only place I know is either the Manor or the tower 😔😔😔 and yes, I'm not a fan or probably I am [I'm not] but I am interested in DC just that I'm too confused on where to start reading, watching, gaming first cuz they're everywhere and the multiple of Robins are not helping me)
And then there, they all discuss while the evil Fentons (cuffed)...
(if ur wondering how they got here, it's because they were able to control Danny's mind again and got them to this place and was planning to destroy it but Danny actually tricked them into thinking that they did control Danny [The JL are planning for something to the evil Fentons])
...while the evil Fentons are listening in and make comments like:
Mads: He's a ghost scum! How could you ever accept him?!
J: That ghost scum must've successfully controlled your minds! Why else would you accept an abomination?!
But each time they do, the good parents would counter it like:
Maddie: Because he is our son! No matter who or what he is! He is still our boy!
Jack: You said it! And Danno-boy here is a great hero! Why shame him?
Maddie: We are proud of him! And we love him! Isn't that all that matters?
Jazz, hugging Danny (the edgy one): Oh, little brother, it must have been hard for you...
To Danny (the one that got experimented au), felt his tears welling up in his eyes, to think he'd hear the day where his parents would say that and see his sister alive but.... They weren't his.
+.+.+.+.+.+
Bonus:
The JL are all quite surprised/shocked and amazed by how cheerful, snarky and pretty much talkative this other Danny is (the one that got good parents).
They also found out that this Danny loves space and is now a fan of Martian Manhunter and all had thought that it was probably the same for their Danny (the one that got no parents).

Danny Phantom AU, where Vlad had befriended Danny, instead of becoming his enemy... What if Vlad goes out of his way to defend Phantom Boy (aka Danny's Ghost Form) against Danny's parents?... I feel like Jazz, Sam and Tucker would respect Vlad a lot more, if he actually did this... And Maddie would be angry at Vlad for defending the Ghost Boy, while Jack has mixed feelings (because he hates the Ghost Boy, but Vlad is Jack's BFF + Vlad does bring up some decent points) ... 👻
Vlad: "I know that you both don't want to hear this, but the Phantom Boy is the biggest reason why this town hasn't been destroyed yet... He goes out of his way to save people, even the ones that don't like him... He even saved the life of Jasmine... If the Ghost Boy was truly evil, he would not have saved her at all, or he would help the other ghosts wipe out this town... Do you really want to dissect your daughter's savior?"
Jack: "...Vladdy does have a point."
From a sociology/behavioral perspective, any grouping of three poses an inherent risk of two of the group siding against the third in differences of opinion.
That said, I think Vlad might be good at mitigating some of Jack and Maddie's obsession, like the example conversation you gave, anon—offering their two-person team a much-needed third option and perspective, especially when it comes to protecting their son from the effects of their own unwitting, unrelenting madness.

A Wish is Worth a Thousand Words AU Prompt
Tw: injury and brief mention of dissection
---------------------------------------------------------
This is another late night 4am au prompt rant so please excuse any typos or improper grammar cause my brain is so very soupy but I've had this concept in my head for months and thought I should share
In this au Danny and Dick are brothers separated at a young age most likely due to the Graysons just being unable to take care of another child at the time so Danny ends up being put up for adoption. Dick is the older brother but was young enough when Danny was born that he had no memory of ever having s brother.
Eventually Danny is brought onto Dick's radar while he's still a Robin. Maybe some incident occurs where Bruce wants to look into the Fentons or something which leads to the discovery and Dick is absolutely devastated that he never got to know his brother. So he does the only rational thing. He books it to Amity Park and slowly tries to work up the courage to tell Danny that he's his brother. With his research and steak out he discovers how terribly unsafe the Fenton's home is and wishes he and his brother were never separated lucky for him and not so lucky for everyone else a certain ghost genie hears this wish and grants it.
Now that they've never been separated Danny is one of vigilante's of Gotham by his brother's side. He and Bruce are really close due to processing the trauma of their parent's deaths in similar ways and life seems happy for them.
However Clockwork is scrambling. Without Danny becoming Phantom the timeline is doomed. So he has to get to work remedying the situation Desiree caused. Clockwork manages to rescue the Sam and Tucker from the previous timeline before they are completely erased and strikes a deal with them. Assist him in getting Danny to become Phantom and they get to stay in this timeline and live out their lives in peace instead of getting destroyed.
Sam thinks the task is simple enough find Danny, work up trust, tell him the situation and he's sure to help. But they stumble across a problem. Danny is doing well timeline. He's happy and healthy and loved without constant threat of dissection or getting attacked by those who should be protecting him. Sam doesn't have the heart to ruin that for him. Tucker on the other hand would feel bad but also it's for the greater good right? So they spend their time planning and learning things about this Danny. They pose as students in his school and become his friends. They also befriend Dick aswell. Slowly but surely they devise a plan to tell him but it actually never happens. Danny is injured in a fight one night and Clockwork uses this to his advantage taking the kid with amnesia and dumping him in Illinois. Sam is pissed but clockwork says its for the best and doesn't give her a chance to argue.
So Sam and Tucker continue their lives in Gotham. Meanwhile this timeline's Sam and Tucker befriend Danny in Amity and Danny becomes Phantom.
In Gotham Dick is left absolutely devastated. He won't rest until he finds his baby brother and brings him home safe and sound. But more and more time is passing and things are seeming less and less hopeful. Eventually tho Dick discovers an article about Phantom and what does he see? Sam and Tucker with this ghost that looks like his missing brother. But how? Sam and Tucker are here in Gotham with him. How are they in Illinois? Only one way to find out he goes to Illinois.
In Illinois he bumps into them and casually talks with them and they have no memory of him, but they definitely are Sam and Tucker. Things are getting weird and not adding up but then bam ghost attack! Eventually this leads to Robin finding Phantom injured in an alleyway and they talk. Robin helps Phantom by patching him up and tries to figure out if this is Danny which it clearly is!
The rest of this fic would probably be brothers getting to know eachother again, confrontations with Clockwork and Sam and Tucker and learning to accept what had occurred and manage time along with reconnecting with Bruce aswell. All in all lots of room for angst and found family stuff :D

So this is a Danny Phantom x The Sandman crossover
Danny is King of the Infinite Realms
which is the dimension of the in-between, pocket gaps between different realities, where everything that ends begins again, etc.
Danny is one of Death of the Endless' favorite children though he is both her's and not her's at the same time
Anyways they have a working relationship because Danny rules over all who have been touched by the Lady Death and the Ghost Zone is kinda sorta where she takes everybody when they die
I'm going off the au that because it's the INFINITE realms, when people die they just go to whatever portion of the realms coincides with what they believe
also you know, not everyone becomes ghosts because there has to be enough ectoplasm when they died for them to form a ghost core and well not all ghosts ever lived
Morpheus dies (he planned it, in case you didn't know) and Daniel Hall becomes the next incarnation of Dream of the endless
I'm also gonna go out and say that Danny and Morpheus have met before because Nocturne is actually a conglomeration of all of Dream's nightmares that have died, by his hand or not
this is going off the assumption that everything in the world has a little ectoplasm, just usually miniscule amounts and that when anything meets its end the bits of ectoplasm it contains eventually makes its way to the Infinite Realms
so Nocturne is made of those multiple small bits of ectoplasm Dream's nightmares
and before Dream got characer development, the nightmares honestly did not have it the best which is why Nocturne was one of the more antagonistic/dangerous ghosts
but yeah so Danny knew Morpheus and they teamed up at some point because of Nocturne
I actually like the idea more that Danny was scolding Morpheus for his treatment of his Nightmares and the clear discrimination between Dreams and Nightmares and that if someone doesn't want to be a Nightmare they shouldn't have to choose between doing something they don't want to do or getting their existence ended (wow does Danny know how that feels)
and Morpheus recreated some of his creations like Corinthian but those are different incarnations, so kinda sorta the same being but also not
it doesn't matter, it doesn't erase what happened
Danny totally crashed Morpheus' castle somehow
Morpheus was definitely like, "You, a human child who once dreamt of nothing but the stars and now only has nightmares of a future that may come to pass (aka Dan, or getting dissected by his own parents, or the collapse of reality as we know it because humans found a way to break into the Ghost Zone and eradicate all the ghosts) would lecture me on the creatures that torment you? I am Lord Morpheus, Dream of the Endless, who has existed far longer than you could possibly comprehend, and you would dare?"
Danny I'm-too-tired-to-deal-with-another-godlike-entities-bullshit-again Fenton is like "Hey! I'm a half-dead child. Get it right. And you totally deserve this dude. I mean I finally had a talk with Nocturn after the Pariah Dark situation, which was not easy mind you, about his whole forcing people to sleep to absorb Dream Energy. His entire being is totally your fault. And your treatment of beings that you created from scratch who are essentially your children is terrible. My parent's are a constant danger to my very existence but at least I know they care about me unlike you and yours. And also...."
they totally became friends because Danny is that type of annoying that grows on you like a fungus and it helps that he's functionally immortal and has seen and experienced the worst of humanity (as well as other beings) and is the all-powerful Ghost King
anyways Danny goes to Morpheus' wake and as Lady Death, in her red dress, bids goodbye to her brother's body floating away into eternity to become one of the stars in the sky Phantom tells her
"Worry not, Mother of my core, I shall take him into my care just as I do all you have brought to my realm and one day, when you lay a final night's kiss upon this universe, you shall join us there until the time for a new Universe's dawn"
"...human child who once dreamt nothing but the stars..."
"Sleep well, my friend as you rest amongst the stars."

Halfa!Dash AU, where Dash was at Danny's house for a school project, but started screwing around instead of working, resulting in Dash being the one to activate the portal and become a halfa/ghost hero. Being the only person Dash knows with any knowledge of ghosts (who won't try to dissect him), Danny ends up being his human helper who covers for Dash and helps him figure out how to defeat other ghosts. @raaorqtpbpdy
i love dash
Dash groaned as he leaned back in Danny’s desk chair. “You’re so boring! Why don’t you loosen up a bit, do something fun?”
Danny glared at him. “Because we’re supposed to be working on this project for Lancer’s class? I don’t know about you, but my parents actually care about me getting passing grades. I’m not gonna flunk this project just because you think it’s boring.”
Rolling his eyes, Dash stood up and stretched. “Okay, keep working on our project then. I’m gonna go find something to eat.”
Dash walked through Danny’s door and into the hallway. Danny’s voice followed behind him.
“Hey! You can’t just go walking around my house!”
Dash snorted. “Oh yeah? How are you gonna stop me?”
He could see Danny running up beside him, the other boy rolling his eyes at him.
“I can at least come with you and make sure you don’t trash my house while you’re downstairs. I could use a snack too anyways.”
They made their way downstairs to the kitchen and Dash sat at the table and looked around the kitchen. His eyes traced their way across the walls until they finally settled on the door to what Fenton called the lab.
Everyone at school knew the Fenton’s were supposed to be some uber-smart engineers and scientists. They’ve even appeared in classes to give demonstrations about how to build things. Mrs. Fenton even appeared in his biology class a few days ago to explain to them how to dissect their frogs when their teacher had been too chicken to do it.
But for all the smarts they had at their fingertips, they decided to study ghosts. Ectology, they called it. How can they study something that didn’t even exist?
Dash stared at the door to the lab even as Danny placed a plate of apple slices and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on the table in front of him.
Dash had been here before. Fenton’s sister tutored him every Tuesday. Him and Fenton even used to be friends somehow, once upon a time. Every time Dash had been here, the big black and yellow striped door to the lab has taunted him. Teased him. Called him. He’s never been down there though.
“Hey, Fenton. Have you ever been in your parent’s lab before?” Dash asked.
Danny spluttered into his cup of orange juice. A drop rolled down his cheek and he turned his head to face Dash.
“Uh, yeah?” He set his cup down. “It’s nothing super exciting. Just a bunch of machines that don’t do anything because ghosts don’t actually exist.”
“Can we go down there right now?”
Danny vehemently shook his head. “No, nope, not allowed. My parents would kill me.”
“I guess if you came back as a ghost that would prove ghosts are real at least.”
Danny glared at Dash and he groaned.
“Come on, Danny. I’ve never gotten to see it! Sam was just talking about it the other day and you said that her and Tucker would be able to come over and check out your parent’s new invention tomorrow! Why can they go down there but I can’t?”
“Because they’re my friends.” Danny grit out. “You’re only here because you have to be.”
Dash glowered at him, trying to mask the toll that that statement took on him.
“It’s not my fault you’re afraid to go down there.”
“I’m not-!” Danny threw his hands up into the air. “Okay, fine, whatever. Let’s go look down in the lab. It’s gonna be boring, and pointless, and if we get caught I’m telling them you physically dragged me down there.”
Dash shot up and smiled. “Deal.”
He quickly made his way to the basement door and pulled on the handle. Slowly it twisted until Dash could hear the mechanism thunk on the inside. He pulled the door open.
The first thing that Dash noticed was that it was cold on the other side of the door. That and the smell. It smelt like when Dash would walk inside the doctor's office. Sterile and clean.
He took a step down into the darkness. Each step brought him further into the dark and cold. As he reached the bottom of the stairs he took a cautious look around before stepping off the final step. He jumped when the lights flashed on above him.
“Dork.” Danny said behind him. “It’s just a basement.”
Dash gaped at the room before him.
It was not just a basement.
A basement didn’t have a second set of steps going further into the ground to who knows where. A basement didn’t have an array of guns being assembled on a countertop next to a bunch of medical equipment.
Dash’s eyes finally made their way across the room and landed on the far wall.
A basement certainly didn’t have that.
“What is that?” Dash asked before he was suddenly being hit in the face with something.
“It’s supposed to be a ghost portal.” Danny said, muffled through the fabric of whatever was on Dash’s face. “It’s my parents newest, but also oldest invention. It didn’t work. That’s why they took a few days to go to the fudge factory.”
“Ah yes, the fudge factory.” Dash says, pulling the thing off his head. “Everyone’s comfort factory.”
Dash’s eyes found Danny and he tried hard to contain a burst of laughter that tried to spill out of him. When Danny met his eyes he scowled.
“We’re putting these on in case you manage to spill any kind of corrosive or hazardous chemicals. I don’t trust you down here.”
Dash rolled his eyes and unzipped the orange jumpsuit in his hands before sticking one foot inside. “While, yes, I think it’s funny you have matching outfits with your parents, maybe you should take a look at your chest.”
Danny looked down and his cheeks flared red when he made eye contact with the sticker of his dads face on his chest. He ripped it off and crushed it into a ball and dropped it on the floor.
“I told him to stop putting a new one on every time, but does he listen? No!”
A burst of laughter finally made its way past Dash’s lips. He pulled the zipper of his own jumpsuit up to his throat and turned to face Danny.
A certain look of melancholy was in Danny’s eyes for a split second before it hardened into another scowl.
Dash turned away without saying anything. Instead, he walked over to the counters and looked at the different instruments the Fenton parents had laying around.
Dash gingerly picked up a scalpel, eyeing it warily. “Why do your parents have medical equipment laying around down here anyways?”
Danny walked up beside him. “They say that when they catch their first ghost that they’re going to dissect it and tear it apart.”
Dash shivered. “Maybe it would be best if ghosts weren’t real after all then.”
“Yeah.”
The silence weighed heavily between them and Dash searched for another thing to look at. His eyes were dragged back to the giant hole in the wall. The ghost portal.
“Why didn’t this work?” Dash asked, walking over to the giant machine.
Danny shrugged. “They plugged it in and switched a flip but all that happened was a spark of light and then it fizzled out. They spent all night trying to figure it out before they gave up.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah, it does. It was their life’s work. And it didn’t work.”
They stood there and stared at it. Then Dash’s feet started dragging him forward.
“What are you doing?” Danny asked, a hint of anxiety creeping into his voice as Dash’s feet crossed the threshold of the portal.
“You said it yourself, it doesn’t work.” Dash said, looking up at the top of the portal, tracing the pattern of the wires with his eyes. “If it doesn’t work and there’s no danger of it turning on, looking at it can’t hurt, right?”
Danny shook his head. “Just because it didn’t work doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous. There could be a wire loose, a bolt that came undone. Maybe the structural integrity isn’t intact and it’s barely standing upright. I don’t actually know if my parents actually unplugged this or not. We really shouldn’t be-”
“Relax, Fenton. I’m standing right here. Nothing’s happening, it’s fine.”
Dash shifted his stance and crossed his arms over his chest. His hip pressed against the wall to his right and his eyes widened when he felt the smallest shift, and heard the quietest click of a button as it was pushed in.
All around him the portal was lighting up. At first it was a bright white but it quickly turned green. He could feel the air around him prickling his skin, and the last thing he saw was Danny’s eyes wide with panic, his arm outstretched towards Dash, his name on his lips.
And then everything went green.
-----
Dash slowly came back to the world. His ears were ringing, his eyes squeezed shut. The only thing he could feel were the hands on his shoulder shaking him. Once the ringing in his ears died down, he could make out his name.
“Dash? Dash, please, wake up.”
Danny stooped over Dash as he laid on his back on the ground. Hands gripped tight to his shoulders. Dash groaned, shifting slightly, and Danny stopped shaking him.
“Dash?” Danny whispered.
“That’s my name.” Dash ground out. “Don’t wear it out.”
Danny took in a shuddering break and he doubled over, resting his head on Dash’s chest.
“I thought you were dead. I don’t know how you aren’t.”
Danny’s shaking voice made Dash’s blood run cold.
“How am I alive?” Dash whispered. The phantom feeling of electricity raced to his fingertips.
“I don’t know.” Danny pulled back and Dash opened his eyes. “When you fell out of the portal, you looked different. Like everything was inverted. Your hair and jumpsuit were blue and your eyes were a bright bright green. After a moment there was a bright flash of light and you were back to normal.”
“Was I dead?”
“I don’t know.”
Dash took a shuddering breath in. “Am I still dead?”
He was starting to hyperventilate, still not completely understanding what was happening. His breaths paused for a moment when Danny pressed his fingertips against the pulse point in his neck, his heart rate speeding up.
“Well, you still have a pulse, so you’re probably not dead.”
“But then what did you see before, after I-”
Dash was startled into silence when a bright ring appeared from nothing around his waist. It separated and spread, traveling up and down his body, passing harmlessly over Danny’s hand where it still rested on one of his shoulders. Nevertheless, Dash craned his head away as it made its way toward his head. Right before it passed his eyes he squeezed them shut and waited for something to happen.
“Dash, it happened again. You’re all blue… and glowy.”
Dash’s eyes snapped open again and he looked at his hand. Where the black glove of his jumpsuit had been before was a white one, the orange replaced with blue. As he looked at his arm, Dash saw a randomly placed mirror on the wall to his right and he shot up, knocking Danny over in the process.
The person that reflected back at him wasn’t him. It couldn’t possibly be. How did he look like that? Why would his colors be able to just change whenever they wanted? It didn’t make any sense.
He turned around and sent a panicked look towards Danny who still sat in shock on the floor. Dash opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by another flash of light. This time when it disappeared and he looked in the mirror, he was himself. He turned to face Danny again.
“What happened to me?” Danny shook his head and swallowed before replying. “I don’t know.”
Dash ran his hands through his hair, gripping the strands harshly. “How do we even fix this? The only people that can help are your parents! They have medical equipment right over there! I can’t be the first ghost they’ll see! You said it yourself! They’ll want to tear me apart!”
Danny finally stood up on shaky legs and walked over to Dash. “We can’t figure this out on our own. They’ll know what to do. Besides, you still had a pulse. You’re not dead. At least not all the way.”
Dash shook his head. “No, we can’t tell them. We’re not even supposed to be down here. I’m lucky that it wasn’t you who died, then your parents would kill me! They might kill me anyway!”
He started hyperventilating again. What were they supposed to do? He was some kind of freak now. He didn’t want to be some kind of test subject, some experiment. Why did he ask to come down here? He should’ve just-
“We won’t tell them.”
Dash’s gaze darted up from where it had drifted to the floor, meeting Danny’s eyes. They held a certain determination to them.
“We won’t?”
Danny shook his head. “You’re right, we don’t know how they’ll handle this. They’ve always been very set in their ways and beliefs.”
“Will you help me?”
Danny’s gaze drifted away from Dash’s. He felt a spike of panic in his stomach.
“Please, you’re the only other person who knows remotely anything about ghosts. How am I supposed to explain this to someone anyways? They wouldn’t believe me. They’d think I'm lying.”
Danny squeezed his eyes shut. “Okay. I’ll help.”
“Thank y-”
“But.” Danny started, looking at him again. “If I’m going to help you, you have to be nice to me and my friends.”
Dash nodded. “Okay.”
Suddenly, Danny looked like he was getting taller. It took Dash a couple of seconds staring at him to realize that, no, Danny wasn’t getting taller. Dash was just sinking through the floor.
“No, no, no, no!” Dash whispered. “Where am I going?”
Danny grabbed Dash’s hands and yanked as hard as he could. He pulled Dash out of the floor and they both nearly toppled to the ground.
“We have a lot to figure out.” Danny looks at Dash.
“Yeah.”
-----
“This is the thermos.” Danny held up a silver and green cylinder. It looked just like a regular soup thermos. Dash barked out a laugh.
“What, are we gonna do, turn these ghosts into soup?”
Danny rolled his eyes. “No. This is supposed to capture ghosts somehow.” He turned it upside down and uncapped the top, staring into the thermos. “I don’t know how it works though.
“Let me see.” Dash snatched the thermos from Danny. He turned it around in his hands and looked into it the same way Danny did. “Where are the ghosts even supposed to go when they’re in here? There’s barely even any room. How is it supposed to-”
Danny heard the click of a button and saw the tiniest spark of light on the thermos and suddenly Dash disappeared, swirling into it in a flash of white light. The thermos landed on top of Danny’s bed and he sat there and stared at it before bursting into laughter.
“Oh my god, Dash.” He wiped a stray tear from his eye. “Well I guess at least we figured it out. Now we just have to get you back out of there.”
-----
“I just don’t get what his deal is. It’s like he wants to kidnap me and my mom. And my dad doesn’t believe me! He hasn’t seen this guy in like twenty years but he believes him over me.”
Dash nodded. “Sounds awful. Can’t relate.”
Danny groaned as they turned a corner into a different hallway in the school. The hallways were starting to empty out. The late bell would be ringing soon.
“Come on, we have to hurry otherwise we’re going to be late.”
“Danny!” Dash shouted.
Danny turned around going into a defensive position expecting to see a ghost down the hallway. But all he saw was Dash sinking into the floor.
“How long is this gonna take to go away?” Danny asked. He walked back over to Dash and grabbed his hands. “It’s starting to get annoying.”
“At least you’re not me!” Dash whined. “I dropped the football four different times during practice yesterday because it wouldn’t stop phasing through my hands!”
Danny rolled his eyes. “I guess it’s good that Kwan enjoys doing science labs. If you had to do the labs you’d have dropped like, 34 beakers by now.”
“Danny!”
“Okay, okay.” Danny pulled Dash as hard as he could. When Dash’s feet came out of the floor Danny lost his balance and they toppled onto the ground together. The breath got knocked out of Danny when Dash landed on top of him.
“We gotta figure out another way to do this.” He shut his eyes.
Danny took a few moments to get his bearings when he could feel a pair of eyes on him. When he opened his eyes he was met with Paulina’s gaze, staring straight at him and Dash laying on the floor. Dash looked up and saw Danny’s embarrassed expression and turned to see what he was looking at. His mouth widened into an O shape.
“Hey, uh, Pauli. What’s up?”
“Nothing much. Heading to class.” She gestured to the door she was in front of. “What about you guys?”
“Oh nothing really. Just, uh, beating up this nerd. And the floor.”
“Right.” She said, “Well, you guys have fun.”
“We will!” Dash shouted after her and Danny groaned.
-----
“Quick! This way! This door’s unlocked!”
Danny pulled open the door to the janitor’s closet. He ran inside with Dash right on his heels. When he heard the door close he spun around and was face to face with Dash. His face heated up and he shook his head.
“Why did it take us so long to find an open closet?” Dash mumbled. His transformation rings appeared and washed over his body.
“I don’t know.” Danny said. “Maybe they’re getting suspicious when two teenagers are always hiding in the janitor's closet together. We can only use the ‘we needed to find a bucket before he threw up’ excuse so many times before they don’t believe us anymore.”
Dash rolled his eyes. “If we were gonna mack on each other we would just do it in the hallways like everyone else. We don’t need to go into the janitor’s closet for that.”
The blush returned to Danny’s cheeks and all he could do was stare at Dash for a couple moments until Dash processed what he just said.
“Aha why would we be macking on each other though? We wouldn’t be, that’d be weird. Okay well I’m gonna go find that ghost okay later bye!”
-----
“Dash!” Danny shouted.
This stupid hunter ghost held Danny up by the back of his shirt. He was shouting something about how he’d be the perfect human to skin and add to his collection. And that he’d also be a good lure to his trap to capture Dash as well.
Dash was flying around above them. Danny wished that this ghost had at least done this closer to the ground. This was a bit of a drop. One he would not make it out of unscathed.
“I will capture both you and your human friend! You’ll be my next project! I’ll use you both to decorate the foyer in my lair!”
“Talk about gross.” Danny said.
The ghost shook him. “Maybe we’ll just have to get started on this project right away.” A knife popped out of the mechanical arm of his suit. The ghost brought it closer to Danny’s neck.
“Shit!”
“Danny, watch out!”
Danny looked up to Dash. He held the thermos in his hands and Danny knew what he was going to do. They were out of options.
Dash pressed the button on the thermos, releasing the beam that shot towards the ghost and started pulling him towards the thermos. After a few seconds the ghost's hand loosened on Danny’s shirt and phased through it and Danny was falling.
He stared up at Dash as he caught the ghost in the thermos and then he was rushing down to him. He dropped the thermos to the ground. A few moments later he caught Danny in the air and pulled him to his chest.
Danny instinctively threw his arms around Dash’s neck. He was breathing heavily and shaking. Danny pushed his head against Dash’s chest and took a deep breath.
“Thanks.” He said.
“Sorry I had to do that.” Dash slowly floated down until they landed on the grass again. “I didn’t want to wait and see if he’d come through on his threats.”
“It’s okay. I didn’t turn into a carpet or a pancake today so I count that as a win.”
Then the bell rang inside the school.
“Shit!” Danny scrambled out of Dash’s arms. “We’re late for school.”
Dash transformed back to his human form. “The consequences of ghost fighting.”
Danny shook his head and started following after Dash towards the school. His foot rolled a bit as he stepped on something. Looking down he saw the thermos.
“Hey, Dash. You forgot the-”
“Race you to class!” Dash said and quickly took off.
“Hey! No fair!” Danny stuffed the thermos into his backpack and took off after Dash. “You cheater!”
-----
“Why’s Dash been so nice to us lately?” Sam asked, stabbing a fork into her salad.
Danny swallowed his drink of milk, trying to act nonchalant. “What do you mean?”
She pointed. “That.”
Danny turned around to see Dash awkwardly waving at them, a smile on his face.
“I don’t know. Maybe he finally realized what a dick he’s been this whole time.”
“You know, we’re not dumb, Danny.” Tucker said as he waved a piece of bacon in his face. “We can hear the whispers you two exchange in class. We don’t sit that far away from you.”
“What are you talking about?” Danny scoffed nervously. “We don’t whisper during class.”
Sam rolled her eyes. “Even Paulina came up to me the other day to ask what’s been going on. Why can’t you just tell us what’s up between you and Dash?”
“Look, it’s not my secret to tell. I don’t know what else to tell you guys without sounding like an asshole.”
“We just wish-“ Sam started but she was cut off by an explosion on the other side of the lunch room.
In the gaping hole that now took up the majority of the opposite wall stood a ghost that was nearly as tall as the cafeteria. It was some kind of bug and it looked around with its beady eyes before it let out an ear splitting screech. He looked at it in horror.
Dash didn't have the thermos. Danny forgot to give it back to him this morning.
He watched as Dash started booking it through the hole in the wall, looking for somewhere to transform. Danny shot up from his seat at the table, getting startled calls from Sam and Tucker as he ran in the direction that Dash headed in.
The ghost saw Danny running towards the hole and made eye contact with him. It approached him but before it could get very close an ectoblast hit it in the back of the head.
“Hey bug brain!”
The ghost turned its head to look at Dash, now floating in the air in his ghost form. It turned around and walked toward him. It spit green looking acid into the air. Dash dodged it and when it hit the ground the grass sizzled and turned black.
Danny cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted up at him. “Dash! I have the-“
Danny watched as Dash got hit by the ghost, sending him flying through the air, hitting the brick wall of the school. Cracks crept out from where his back hit the wall and Dash laid there taking a heaving breath and struggling to get up. His transformation flickered around his waist once or twice before it separated and traveled across his body, leaving his human form lying helplessly on the ground.
Danny felt a spike of anxiety in the bottom of his stomach and ran across the grass and threw himself over one of the picnic tables. He placed himself in between Dash and the ghost, landing on his knees. Right before the ghost slammed into them, Danny opened the thermos and pressed the button on it and sucked the ghost inside the device.
The silence that followed was heavy, unsettling compared to the events that just happened. Danny felt as Dash shifted and leaned forward, resting his forehead on Danny’s shoulder.
“Thanks.” He mumbled.
“What the fuck?”
Danny looked up to see a stunned Sam and Tucker, shock on their faces.
“Wait, it’s not what it looks like. We-“
“You’re the ghost kid?” Tucker exclaimed.
“Uh, no, I’m not-” Danny started.
“Not you, Danny!” Sam shouted, pointing at Dash. “Him! Is this what’s been going on this whole time?”
“Yeah.” Danny said. “Like I said, not my secret to share.”
“This is what the secret has been this whole time?” Sam threw her hands up into the air. “We thought the two of you were dating in secret!”
“It’s true.” Tucker chimed in. “Sam and Paulina sharing their theories over what was happening has been the most I’ve ever seen them bond before.”
“We’re not-”
Danny was cut off by Dash interrupting him.
“Please don’t tell anyone.”
Sam raised an eyebrow at him at that. “Why not? I thought the star football player would jump at any chance for fame and fortune.”
Dash shook his head. “Not when the Fenton’s have dissection equipment in their basement.”
They were silent for a few seconds before Tucker spoke. “Oh. That would make sense why you guys didn’t tell anyone.”
“Yeah.” Danny said. “He was both the first ghost they’ve ever seen and the most prominent one in Amity Park so they’re really set on catching him and ‘tearing him apart, molecule by molecule’.”
“Maybe we can help.” Sam said.
“I can help too!” Paulina shouted from behind a tree.
“Where did you even come from?” Tucker shouted back at her.
She steps out from behind the tree and tosses her hair over her shoulder. “You’re not the only ones who know how to follow people around. I walked out right behind you guys.”
Dash groaned. “Is there anyone else out here?” He stood up and walked towards the bushes and pushed the leaves apart, looking inside. “Kwan are you in there?”
Paulina snorted. “Kwan ran away with the rest of the kids in the lunchroom. What a bunch of wusses.”
Sam rolled her eyes and turned to face Dash again. “Well, what do you say? We won’t tell anyone. And you two don’t look like you’ve been getting any sleep lately. You could use the help.”
Danny and Dash looked at each other. It would be nice to have some sort of support system. They could divide patrols up at night so they could actually get home in time for curfew.
“It can’t hurt.” Dash said, shrugging. “Do you think we’ll be able to stop Manson from doing what she wants anyways?”
“No.” She closed her eyes and crossed her arms.
“It would be nice to have help. And I’d be able to hang out with Sam and Tucker more again.”
“And Paulina.” Paulina chimed in.
Danny rolled his eyes. “Yes, and Paulina.”
-----
Danny and Dash were sitting on Danny’s bed together. Danny sat against the headboard and was scrolling through his phone, reading a new article that Nasa posted. Dash laid on the bed perpendicular to him with his legs hanging off the edge. He was playing a game on his phone.
After he finished his last game Dash looked at the time and sighed. “Well, it’s getting pretty late. I should probably start heading home before my parents start wondering where I am.”
Danny stretched and yawned when Dash sat up. “Yeah. I’m getting pretty tired anyways. I’m still mad at that ghost that woke me up at four in the morning today.”
Dash chuckled. “I would’ve come by to help with it but as you found out this morning I’m a very heavy sleeper.”
“Maybe you should turn your ringer on when you’re sleeping. It’s a lot harder to wake up to seven phone calls when all they do is vibrate.”
“I already said I was sorry!” Dash said but he was laughing.
Danny shook his head and smiled.
Dash looked at him for a few moments, enjoying the warmth Danny’s smile brought him.
He leaned forward, quickly placing a kiss on Danny’s cheek.
Danny’s eyes widened as Dash harshly pulled back.
“Okay well I should get going! I’ll see you tomorrow, okay later bye!”
Dash picked up his backpack and hurried out the bedroom door.
“Baxter, get back here!” Danny shouted, Dash could hear him standing up from his bed and running to his door. “You can’t just kiss me and leave like that!”
“There better not be any kissing happening behind any closed doors in this house!”
“Mom!”
Dash smiled to himself and rushed out the front door before Mrs. Fenton could stop him.

Seven Lives
There was a friendly ghost cat that liked to hang out a few streets over from Fentonworks.  Danny saw her almost every day, whether he was trudging to school, or when he was patrolling.  She would come out and wind around his legs, purring and meowing for his attention.
The residents of the street didn’t seem to mind her presence. She was very sweet, affectionate, and she helped keep the minor ghost pests down.
Danny didn’t think much of it when she didn’t come to greet him Wednesday morning, he didn’t see her every time he walked by. Sometimes she was busy napping in the sun, chasing shadows, or demanding affection from other people on the street.  When he didn’t see her at all Thursday, he was concerned.  By Friday morning, he was worried.
The walk home was uneventful and devoid of friendly tail or whisker.  He kicked the door open with his foot, dumped his bag by the door, and headed down the basement stairs.
“Hey Mom, Dad, I’m gonna go hang out with Tucker and Sam,” he said while descending to the basement.
“Hey Sweetie!” his mother called back. “Since it’s the weekend that’ll be alright, just make sure you get something to eat before you go.”
As Danny hit the bottom step, his nose was assaulted by the electric-lime tang of ectoplasm.  He took a hesitant step forward into the lab, not really wanting to see whatever experiment his parents had managed to cook up.
His mother smiled at him, ectoplasm splattered across her hood and hazmat suit.  “How was school today, Danny?”
“Danno!” His father boomed, also covered in ectoplasm. “Do you have a lot of homework?  Maybe you can come help us in the lab after you’re done hanging out with your friends!”
Danny’s eyes slid from his exuberant parents, to the lab table in between them. Dread filled him as they then followed the slow drip, drip of ectoplasm from the floor back up to the table surface.  His muscles froze and his stomach dropped to his feet. An icy feeling crept up his throat.  He felt the temperature drop around him and further chill the air of the lab.  His heartbeat, normally very slow and steady, jumped in his chest like a panicked rabbit.
Danny couldn’t catch his breath.  Every shallow inhale brought the sickening scent of lime fizz and chemicals into his lungs.  His head pounded and a static tingling crawled from his shoulders to his fingertips.  A roaring noise keened in his ears but over it all he could still clearly hear the slow dripping of ectoplasm rolling off the table and platting on the floor.
‘Oh no, oh no, no no no no...’ His hands trembled as they clenched into fists at his sides and he swayed slightly as he saw just where the friendly cat ghost had been.
He stumbled closer to the table.
His mother turned to him, the light reflecting off the red lens of her goggles at odds with her concerned tone. “Honey, are you feeling alright? You’re looking a little green.” She reached for his forehead with an ectoplasm stained glove.
He dodged out of her reach, barely avoiding the puddle of green at the base of the lab table.
He peered down at the table. “Ms. Chonkers?” he whispered faintly, just below the threshold of human hearing.
The partially dissected ghost lifted her head fractions of an inch and gave a pathetic wheezing, “Mew.”  She then sagged back down to the table.
Danny’s eyes darted between his parents before settling back on the unfortunate ghost in front of him.  Her core was exposed, the golf ball sized light quivering in the sterile air of the lab.
He swallowed down bile as he desperately tried to think of a way to get his parents away from the cat before they managed to hurt her any more.
“Danny?” his mother said.
Danny swallowed again. “Just wanted to check in.” He flicked his eyes to the cat and back, he had a ghost of a plan, but would need to hurry.
He quickly turned heel and fled back upstairs, trying to keep his revulsion and nausea down. As his foot hit the uppermost step, he heard his mother—no, Maddie say, “Careful Jack. Don’t disturb the core. We don’t want this one disintegrating before we’re done studying it.  Just think of all the technological and scientific advancements we can make if we figure out how it works!”
He got to the kitchen and paced back and forth for a moment. He needed to get his parents out of the house immediately and without question.  He stopped and yanked his phone out, nearly fumbling it in his haste, and called his sister.
She picked up on the second ring. “Hello?  Danny?”
“Jazz.  You need to call Mom and Dad and get them out of the house.  Tell them you saw Skulker terrorizing some kids or something, but it has to be as fast as you can!”
“Okay, little brother. But please, what’s going on? Are you okay?”
“Jazz, they have Chonkers.  Please hurry and get them out of the lab, it’s…really bad.”
Danny heard Jazz breathe in sharply.
“Alright, I’ll get them out. Do your best to save her!”
Danny resumed his pacing as he waited.
After the longest 20 seconds of Danny’s half-life, his parents came thundering up the stairs.
“We’re coming, Jazzy-pants!” his dad cried.
“No putrid ghost hunter will lay a hand on our daughter!” shouted his mother.
The second he heard the door slam, Danny raced back down to the lab.  He jammed his thumb into the DNA scanner to open the portal before rushing back to the ghost.
“Ms. Chonkers!”  He quickly unstrapped the ecto-resistant restraints. His hands hovered over the cat, trembling.
“Mew,” she whimpered, sides heaving in distress.
Danny gingerly unpinned the peeled strips of green flesh and gently pushed them back in place, protecting the fragile core.  He carefully phased his arms through the table to gently lift her.
Once safe in his arms, she began a rasping, purr.
He turned to the swirling portal and hovered above the ground.  He winced and tried to ignore the soft splats of ectoplasm dripping off of his arms to the lab floor.
She was melting in his arms.
Once through the portal and into the ambient energy of the Infinite Realms, Chonkers began to revive somewhat.  Her tail twitched, and the dripping slowed.
Danny touched down on a piece of floating rock near the portal and tenderly laid her down.  He rubbed around her ears and chin, being careful to avoid the incisions.  The cat’s purrs rumbled slightly louder.
“Still not stable,” he muttered.  Watching as steam rose off from the ectoplasm pooling around her body, he grasped at the loose soil covering their tiny island in frustration.  He shuddered, gasping as he tried to keep the sobs in.
He couldn't fall to pieces right now, Chonkers already had that covered.  He opened his eyes after a few seconds, faintly luminous tears falling and cleaning tiny dots on his gloves.
“What can stabilize a ghost that’s falling apart...melting?” he asked himself.
She was melting in his arms just like Dani.  Wait.  The Ecto-dejecto had saved Dani.  Maybe it could save Chonkers as well.  Clarity rushed over him now that he had a plan.
Danny gently stroked the side of Chonkers’ face. “I’ll be right back. It’ll be ok.”
He flew back through the portal and scanned the failed experiment shelf.
There it was. “Aha!” He snatched it and once again launched himself through the portal.
Once he was back at her side, he spritzed her with the ecto-dejecto.
‘Please work.’
Several agonizing seconds passed as Danny watched her sides heave, still sublimating and mixing into the ambient ectoplasm.
A ripple passed through her body. Then another, and another.  The puddle under her receded as her body slowly reformed.
Danny let out a deep sigh as the minutes passed.  The tight feeling in his chest finally easing as Chonkers took a few unsteady steps to him, butting her head against his leg where he knelt.
“That was way too close,” Danny said as he obeyed her demands for affection and petted her.  His body sagged to the ground, unbelievably weary now that the crisis had passed.
Chonkers climbed onto his lap and purred.
“I know how cats usually feel about dogs, but maybe you could learn a few things from Cujo.  If you could change size like him, this won’t happen again.”  He hugged the cat in his arms, feeling the tension slowly bleed out of him. “It can’t happen again.”
Danny lifted the chunky cat up and held her at face level.  “You have to stay in here for now, it won’t be safe in the human world for you for a while.”
 She mewed at him inquisitively.
“I know you’re happy around people and doing cat things, but you have to stay here where it’s safe. At least until I can figure out how to keep this from happening again.”
The cat meowed again and butted her head against his chin.
“I sure hope you understand me. I know ghost animals are usually a lot more intelligent than their living counterparts,” Danny said, petting the cat.
Feeling slightly bad that he was about to trick her, Danny formed up a tiny glittering ball of ectoplasm in his hand and waved it in front of her whiskers.  Once he was sure she had locked onto the temporary toy and had entered dumb baby mode, he threw it as hard as he could away from the portal.
With the cat distracted, Danny slipped back into the normal world. He sighed in relief—his parents were still out.  Jazz must have set up a good distraction.
He slipped off a green stained glove and closed the portal.  Hopefully, that would keep Chonkers out of trouble for a few days.
With one last glance around the gruesome lab, Danny fled to the bright sky and fresh air of the park.  He flew past the common areas to a secluded picnic area that was overgrown and forgotten by casual visitors.  He touched down at the table, slumping over and resting his face on his arms.
Now that he wasn’t just living in the moment, the full horror of what he had seen was starting to sink in.  His parents had caught an innocent and friendly ghost, and instead of studying her intact, had proceeded to cut her open.  And because when a ghost ends, they dissolve completely into base ectoplasm, she was aware and conscious the whole time.
Shudders wracked his body as he finally let himself sob, every breath bringing a sharp reminder from the persistent lime scent clinging to him.  They knew what her core was when they saw it.  His mother had warned his dad against disturbing it.  They had done this before.  How many ghosts had they ended on that table?  How many had he failed to save?
He wasn’t sure how much time had passed when he heard the whistles and chirps of the pod of blob ghosts that lived in the park.  It had been long enough that most of the ectoplasm staining his suit had steamed away, leaving it deceptively clean.
He felt feathery, gentle touches against his arms, shoulders, and head.  A few persistent nudges later, and he lifted his head from his arms.  He still had glowing tears running down to his chin, but he couldn’t help the weak smile that crossed his face when the blob ghosts cuddled all around him.
They nudged him to his feet and swarmed him, snuggling into his arms and resting on his head and shoulders.  Danny held himself with one arm, the other holding a particularly insistent large blob ghost.  The roiling nausea started to fade as the little ghosts cleaned away his tears and the rest of the stains on his outfit.  He couldn’t help a giggle when one nibbled his ear, making him squirm away.
“I have to do something.  I can’t let this happen again,” Danny told the little ghosts, his gaze focused in the direction of his house.  He could see the top of the Ops Center above the tree line of the park.  Even way out here, he couldn’t escape reminders of what his parents had done.
Determination filled him as the little ghosts continued to try to comfort him in their own way. “I can’t let any more innocent ghosts be harmed by them.  It’s time I did something.”

Hi! Connected to DannyMay... I'm not really familiar with AU names/titles, either with AUs much. Could you help me out a bit? It sounds fun, but nothing comes to my mind if I think about those. Is there a list for those maybe? Maybe about the popular ones? What those mean? Thank you for your help! :)
If you don't want to submit any AU's, you don't have to! The poll is entirely optional, and many people are just submitting 3 general prompts. When the poll closes and the calendar is posted, any AUs we choose for the event will come with descriptions for people!
But if you want to browse them to submit, here's a bunch of popular DP AUs/HCs under the cut that I got off the top of my head.
Fangs: Self explanatory. Danny has fangs because ghost.
No One Knows AU: A "what if?" scenario exploring a universe where Danny was alone on the accident (aka no Sam and Tucker). As you can imagine, this has great potential for angst.
Corpse AU: A scenario where when halfas die, they leave behind a body. Usually the plot revolves around either the DP trio hiding/burying the body, or someone/cops finding the body in the woods somehow!
Dual Obsession AU: This is a scenario where Danny has two ghostly obsessions tying him down to Earth: an obsession with protection (or something similar) and a more innocent one about space. Typically, his space obsession involves a shift in his appearance and powers as well. Great potential for both fluff and angst with this one.
Monster Appearance: Honestly not quite sure what the actual name for this one is, but a lot of people like to play with a situation where Danny's ghostly form is a lot more inhuman looking.
Hazmat AU: Along the previous lines, this is a scenario where Danny's parents actually follow lab safety protocol and so Danny dies in a real hazmat suit, hood/mask and all.
Portal AU: This is a situation where Danny becomes the portal when he dies. He essentially throws up ghosts.
Ghost King: This is a headcannon where Danny becomes the ghost king after defeating Pariah Dark.
Season 4: Not really an AU, people more just like to picture/write about their take on what the future of Danny Phantom would be like (either including or ignoring the season 3 finale episode).
Field Trip: A headcannon where people like to have Danny and his class take a field trip, usually to the Ghost Zone, sometimes to other places too. Usually involves Danny's class getting stranded somewhere and Danny secretly (with varying levels of success) try to figure out how to get his class home without outing himself.
Full Ghost AU: Also self-explanatory. During the accident, Danny turns into a full ghost.
Human AU: An AU where Danny starts out a full ghost, and the portal accident turns him into a human/halfa (Half Human AU in this case).
Halfa Jack AU: A situation based off that episode of DP where Jack, not Vlad, gets in the initial accident. Usually involves Danny being raised by Vlad/Maddie.
Dissection: A headcannon where Danny gets dissected by either his parents or the Guys in White. I like to call these "dissecc" but that's just me.
Ghost Hunger AU: A dark and typically angsty scenario where Danny must consume ectoplasm to feed his core. Some people go a less-angsty route where ambient ectoplasm, or ecto-fruits/veggies will satisfy this. Others go a more cannibalistic route.
Reverse Trio AU: An AU which "reverses" the roles of the trio. Typically portrayed as Sam being the halfa, Danny being the geek, and Tucker being the goth.
Electric Core AU: A scenario where because Danny dies via electricity, instead of developing ice powers (and a 'cold core'), he's given electricity powers (aka an 'electric core).
Well, that's all I can think of right now. I might add more to this list if it comes to me. Lemme know if I forgot anything.

2, 3, 11, and 12 for the latest meme?
2) What’s your favorite fic?
Ack, tbh I haven't really been too up-to-date on reading DP-related fics these days 😅... but I do remember this one fic about an AU-version of "The Ultimate Enemy" (where Sam ended up surviving) was an interesting story to read through from what I recall.
3) If you could canonically rewrite any episode, which would you chose?
Heh... weell there's actually a few that's always been on my mind for potential "rewrite" material (not counting "Phantom Planet" 'cause I mean, everyone does that lol). Here's the three that's been most on my mind atm:
-"Teacher of the Year" (S1) = Had a good premise going with Lancer getting more development + the videogame adventure aesthetics looking cool... but I really could've done without that random "Danny and Tuck act sexist to Sam outta nowhere" subplot :/. Like... weren't these three friends since like, 2nd grade? Why would they act so condescending about her playing games as they do (+especially knowing how Sam is, I doubt she would've let this slide if she's gonna keep hanging out with them)? It just felt so OOC & unnecessary to the story that I honestly think it'd be best to just scrap it (and instead replace it with like, a story of the trio just playing the games on equal terms without much conflict (except maybe getting more "casually" competitive or something for high score-purposes)? Idk-)
-"Urban Jungle" (S3) = While I do still enjoy this one alot based purely on entertainment-value (+all the cool aesthetics like Plant!Sam & Danny's new ice powers), a part of me does feel like it would've benefitted a lot more by being a full-on movie than a regular episode. More time to give the heroes some big stakes, character development, more intense fights (+Plant!Sam being more "active" of a threat), yknow all that jazz .3.
-"The Ultimate Enemy" (S2) = I know this is a fan-favorite by the fandom and all... buuuut yeah, I'm still not all that impressed by it tbh :p. Like, okay sure having that darker atmosphere and Danny's biggest "enemy" being the fear of growing up is a good idea in-theory... but, again how does it make sense for him to turn to Vlad when losing all his loved ones?? Like... you couldn't have just had Danny doing the "splitting-my-halves-apart" ritual himself out of his own personal guilt? Honestly I feel like that angle could've added more weight to the story + show how much Danny's ghostly side has become a core part of him than he realized (think of it like how Steven Universe became so drained/close to dying when his "Gem" side got taken out in the "Change Your Mind" special). Then I guess if you had to include Vlad, it'd be through this now-separated Phantom!Danny chasing him down for "revenge" and absorbing his powers, forming into the "Dark Danny" you see today. Or... idk, maybe thats just me lol.
11) Most underrated fic trope?
It pains me that I still have yet to see that many others exploring more of the family backgrounds for some of the characters outside of Danny... like, cmon especially with a case like the gloomy goth girl Sam growing up with preppy/controlling rich parents, it always made curious of how she must've coped with that growing up :c. Sam with those like Tucker as well since we only see his folks in snippets in the show, wonder what they must be up to?
12) Most overrated fic trope?
Idk if this is still a thing "regularly" by the current fandom but... could never really get the appeal of "dissection" fics tbh (let alone performed by his own parents ._.). Like, don't get me wrong I'm all for exploring a bit of "dark" themes here and there fanfic-wise but... really? Danny's folks? The same people who accepted their son wholeheartedly when he first revealed the truth in "Reality Trip"? Idk, just feels too OOC for me to see them doing such a thing to their own kid (ghost-researching jobs or not) .-.

If I'm understanding this right, Danny and Mari are Metas in this AU who for some reason randomly teleport to Bruce every once in a while? Or is it Clockwork and Fluff just having fun?
I wonder if they tell Bruce about their Powers when they get them later in life? They didn't tell their actual parents, but they think that their Hero Dad/Fun Uncle would understand.
Or at least Danny would. He trusts Bruce since he doesn't normally yell about dissecting Ghosts, and would tell him about it.
But Mari? She has legitimate reasons and Orders to not tell anyone. Not even her parents.
I'm just imagining a scene where Danny and Mari are both with Bruce, Danny having told Mari about his powers as well, and Bruce hellong him learn to control his powers. Mari is just watching on, and realizes that she feels jealous that Danny gets all the help in Superheroics, while she is stuck figuring it out herself.
But then she realizes that it's not their fault, she literally hasn't told them. But she can't help but feel a little sad knowing that Danny and Bruce are bonding over Hero stuff while she isn't allowed to join in.
Just sibling Angst, it's always fun. Especially with Marinette.
Bruce:" I am not collecting children! They find me!"
Flash:"Yeah, right. Don't believe you."
Bruce: "What do you think? I put my arms out, and a new child falls into my arms to adopt!"
To show case it,
Bruce stretched out his arms only for two babies to land in his arms. With a name tag on them. Daniel and Marinette.
Bruce:" This doesn't prove anything."
+
Bruce is on speaking terms with their families. As the meta-babies most often teleported, Maddie and Jack met Sabine and Tom. And now they talk at least once a week, as Bruce and family is kind of part of it too.

The Prodigal Son
Hey so this is for @nastyburger and their Dannyverse AU.  Just so you know, it’s an AU that may not make sense without checking them out
Danny B. Fenton snorted, ashen grey smoke erupting from his nose as Dani landed behind him. For the first time in years, he was at Fenton Works for christmas, home of now world famous ghost hunters Maddie and Jack Fenton, as well as their elder child, Jazzy. It was once his home too. He knocked on the door. He didn’t know why, since he was expected. He supposed he just hoped it was Jazzy who opened the door. He was afraid to phase in. His parents might not buy that they “just didn’t hear him come in” when he was the most anticipated part of the holiday.
After a few seconds of silent waiting, Dani turned to her brother, silently asking if he really wanted to go through with this. And B wasn’t entirely sure he was. But, he’d promised Jazzy he would make an effort. The Fentons were old by now; it was why the elder child had returned home. The door creaked open, violet eyes glancing out before it was thrown open to reveal Madeline Fenton, hunched over with hair more grey than red, her hands rough and boney. Danny’s smile was still half formed when she latched onto him with a hug. Maybe it was his Core that had always caused him so much trouble, but she was cold to the touch. Most humans were. Silently, Maddie waved him and Danielle in. As soon as they crossed the threshold, Danny felt the house take aim at them, reacting to their shared ecto-signature. Danny had once removed its ability to sense him and Dani, but Jack had yelled at him when he’d realized. Danny had pointed out that it could’ve been Jazzy, but the Fenton patriarch had rebuffed that by pointing out Jazzy followed instructions.
Soon, Jack approached from the tree, a somewhat strained smile on his face as he said, “‘Ello Daneil. It’s good to see you. Same t’ ya Elle.”
Danny nodded, “Hi Ja- Dad. and uh, yeah. Glad to see you both as well. Merry christmas.”
“If yer more comfortable callin’ me Jack, call me Sparrow for all I care. Haven’t been yer father in years,” Jack said gruffly. Danny noticed it sounded more irate than sad. More bitter than apologetic.
The halfa siblings each raised an eyebrow and held up some bags (Elle had food, B the gifts), to which a younger, less bitter voice rang out from behind, “Food on the counter, presents are hidden in the guestroom.”
Danny hugged Jazzy much tighter than his mother had done to him. He’d been meaning to call her for ages, bur grading and hunting had been eating up his time. Despite not being back here in ages, he didn’t need to ask where the guestroom was, given that there was only one option. When he got up there, he snorted. The bright blue walls still had the fades that came from his posters; it was the same desk, so on and so forth. He wasn’t sure how to feel about it.
“They didn’t touch it for years, ya know. They were hoping you’d,” Jazzy said with a pause, “come home.”
The redhead ran his hand through his hair and laughed horsley, “Considering how I left? Why don’t I quite believe it was a bilateral decision?”
Jazzy pursed her lips, not having a response to that. There had been a lot of yelling that night. Ancients, it had been Christmas Even then too. For the longest time, the most that Jazzy, Sam or Tucker had heard was that Danny Phantom was more and more active than had been normal. That his fire had been tinted blue. It had been a terse few weeks, and everyone was frightened out of their minds trying to figure out where Fenton was staying. When they found out Vlad had taken him and promised to hide him… It had been a difficult time. Loathe as the Phantom was to admit it, Plasmius had supported his human half in a way no one else could, and Danny was in his debt.
Looking around the room some, Danny said, “I need to think about some stuff. You mind?”
Silently, Jazzy nodded and left the room, closing the door behind her. Danny looked around some more, and eventually found something he hadn’t seen in years. A picture of him with Sam and Tucker at eighteen, with the imprint of Dani in a nearly invisible red spot that almost no one else would see. If Danny had to hazard a guess, he was 19 here, and it was one of the last times he was happy at home. He sighed as he pocketed the picture and walked out. There was nothing more for him in that room, bar whatever present Jazzy had gotten him, he supposed.
“Look who decided to join ‘is family afta all,'' snorted the old man from the living room. Danni glared at Jack, who snorted.
Spitefully, Danny glared at his father and blew a smoke ring with his ghost sense. He knew it was childish, but Jack had been nothing but rude the entire time. To his surprise, it was his mother who glared at him with… a contempt usually reserved for Phantom... . Jack, for his part, almost seemed apologetic, before the mask was back on and he scowled. Both Jazzy and Danni rolled their eyes at their brother.
Sensing the tension bubbling beneath the surface that threatened to lash out, Jazzy turned to Danielle, and asked, “So. Elle? What’ve you been doing lately? Last I saw on instagram you were in, Madrid, right?”
Danni nodded, “Yep. Met a cute girl or two, which was nice. But Spain isn’t for me; not a fan of their food compared to Italian. Actually I spent the last few weeks of my europe trip in Milan. But I guess I forgot to post it…” she shrugged.
“Ooh, Milan. You have got to tell me all about it,” Jazzy said with a smile before she glanced at the falling snow.
Danny tried to listen, really. But Danni had already told him about her time in Milan (and the girls she met there in some form.) He felt himself zoning out, before his father jostled his shoulder and led him down to the lab. Danny wasn’t sure what he expected, but the lab was still the best kept part of the house bar hi- bar the guest room. His father had to take an automatic chair to carry him down. The radioactive green of the portal still illuminated the basement, but there was now a glass container that Danny could tell was lined with ectoplasm to prevent phasing. Smart. The eldest fenton offered a beer, which the son silently turned down. But soon Jack had sat the two of them down, like when Danny was a kid. Then, Jack had called them their ‘boys talks,’ but now it was clear what this was. Two broken men, trying to fix themselves by fixing the other.
“Now, you were always a bit oblivious on your best day. Which this most certainly isn’t. Suppose that’s my fault a bit. But, in case you hadn’t noticed. Your mother hasn’t said a word all day. Why do you think that is?”
Danny knew immediately, “Throat cancer. Jazzy told me a few weeks ago, when I was in Canada with Vlad… I tried calling, but…”
Jack snorted, whether he believed his son or not being unclear, “Right. Ya know, when you were a tyke, I wanted you t’ meet Vladdie,” a snort, “more than anything in the world. But now? I wish I’d never met ‘im myself. Would’ve saved my family. Would’ve saved him, come to think. Regardless. I want you to tell ‘er. Before she goes. So she knows who you really are.”
The room went cold, as Danny knew exactly what Jack meant, and he tried to force the hurt down in a level tone, before asking, “You knew? For how long?”
“Knew you had powers immediately. Saw you fall through your floor, but you were too comatose from the accident to remember. Didn’t know you were Phantom for a while, but when Vlad won his first term- unanimous votes my ass- I realized somethings about him. Things were cemented when I saw you beat him into transforming back to human. If somethin like that could happen from Vlad’s accident…” he gestured to Danny.
Danny stood, eyes burning with tears and ectoplasm as he snarled, “You knew. You had to know I wasn’t some druggie. And you still let mom send me to rehab? You still wasted weeks of my life. You tore me from my friends. You still sided with Mom in almost every fight. How dare you ask for me to give her my secret now? You don’t care. You just want your guilt off your chest and think I can do that.”
“I’m the reason it was rehab and not the dissection table. Maddie was on to you, you know. By timing alone, and the devices going off. But I lied to my own wife, your mother, for months. I regret what I had to do, but not what I did. I saved my son.”
That gave Danny pause. He wanted to believe it. But years of being alienated from his family made him wary. Part of him screamed that if Jack was being honest with him, he wouldn’t have let Danny risk life and limb with minimal intervention. He wouldn't have shot at him. But the boy that wanted to be a family again ached at the possibility opening up. At being his parents’ son again.
“Fine. I’ll do it. But after this? I don’t want to hear from you again, You’ll see me at the service, but after that, I’m gone.”
As he walked up the stairs, Jack sighed. Tears streamed down from the old man’s face. It was better Danny was angry at him, than the dying woman who’d nearly convinced him to experiment on his own son when they’d realized what happened. Jack didn’t see the incidents with Danny’s powers, it had been Maddie. And Jack had sent his son to rehab while he tried to talk his wife from the edge. He’d saved Danny, and all it cost him?
 His son.

danny phantom season 2, episode 17-20 thoughts! finishing up season two! the finale is the THIRD 2-PARTER OF SEASON 2. that's so many! I wonder how many season 3 will have?
see prev episode thoughts in this tag <3
-UERGH WHY DOES VLAD HAVE AN AI WITH MADDIE'S FACE ON IT. SOOO CREEPY. AND MORE 'CREATIONS' waiiiit. vlad is Dr. Frankenstein! (despite his ghost design obviously referencing vampires) HE HAS 'CREATIONS' HE MAKES THEN WONT TAKE REAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR!!! this bitch.
-danny was late and his friends immediately start going off about how hes inconsiderate, and has been treating them like sidekicks??? he just overslept, my god. chill. even if he has, be nicer about talking about it with him?? he really can't help that he sometimes has to chase the ghosts, or has a secret identity to protect...
-'what kind of ghost haunts a miniature golf course' umm. me as a ghost. next question
-imagine going home and theres a tiny child on your bed claiming to be your cousin. with as many cousins I have, I would probably believe her. but the 'ran away from home' BIT....SHES 12?? SHES SO TINY. I hate that they have her belly out in her ghost form, but I like how her colors are asymmetrical. something about her design...maybe the proportions?? are weird to me...anyway danny was good to feed her, but he shouldve taken her to his parents FIRST. or, tbh, probably jazz. (JAZZ DIDNT EVEN GET TO MEET HER!!! NOOO. I mean she said she'll be BACK BUT STILL)
-ANYWAY. shes voiced by AnnaSophia Robb, the girl who was in because of winn dixie, played as violet from charlie and the chocolate factory, and was the girl from bridge to terrabithia. (the movie that made me cry hysterically when I was 12 and I never watched it again because it Broke Me!) thats super cool.
-vlad sucks: the episode, basically. what's new!! I love how he's like, I'm Not A Villain. *immediately cuts to him torturing danny to make him transform, to get mid-transformation DNA, to perfect a Clone.* *immediately shows that he doesnt give a shit about his new daughter Dani and just wants a ''more perfect clone'' and will put her in danger to get that. will let her DIE to get that*
-Dani is danny's clone and is a girl? transgenderism....one of them has to be trans. or they both are.
-dani just. leaving at the end. WHAT? SHES 12. DONT JUST. NO!!! SHE WAS PROBABLY JUST BORN, A MONTH AGO AT MOST, RIGHT?? SHE NEEDS...SOMEWHERE TO LIVE. MONEY? FOOD?? A FAMILY?? AN EDUCATION???! WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S LEAVING!!! OKAY BYE I GUESS!!! D: concern!!!
-the next ep opens with skulker chasing a ghost down. ...does skulker count as a ghost hunter in the way valerie and danny do? I mean, sure, he hunts the good guys too, but he. he hunts ghosts...also, we haven't seen his Real Form since his debut episode! tiny...
-the guys in white are back! ngl, I assumed they were a gag for that one episode. you're telling me they might actually be a threat? ok.
-valerie in her lil nasty burger uniform looks so cute!! glad shes not in that mascot uniform this time. I guess she stopped hiding that she's working there now?
-gregor having white hair, dressed in black and white...and green eyes...sam has a Type, I guess.
-danny being unnecessarily hostile about gregor. danny!!! hes been nice so far. he looks a little...tall to be 14, but. danny doesnt know anything about him! (he does Suspect, but...you cant just spy on people and be rude to them from a hunch.) also, gregor kissed her, and when she freaked out, he was like 'oh no!! sorry, we can take it slow! I understand!' which was NICE. I hate jealousy plots still tho.
-altho. umm. tucker, being concerned about danny spying on them??? SAM AND YOU WERE SPYING ON DANNY AND VALERIE A FEW EPISODES AGO!!!!! im not saying its RIGHT, but dont be a hypocrite!!! AND THEN SAM BEING MAD ABOUT IT, TOO.
-DANNY IS A 7 ON THE SCALE OF ECTOPLASMIC POWER!!! out of 10? so I want to know where the other ghosts rank...I mean it's a list from the guys in white, so, it may not even be accurate, like, they havent seen ALL of his powers, have they?
-Lancer being like 'im not cooperating with the FEDS' until they said they could access his tax records. they already did that joke with jack, but like, its still funny. kings of tax evasion.
-tucker's aggressive third-wheeling. but gregor being super into it. gregor/tucker is the real ship here. then gregor kissing danny on both cheeks after hugging him. bi poly king gregor. (he does turn out to be a liar with a phoney accent. unsurprising, BUT THE CONCEPT OF HIM BEING GENUINE AND THEM ALL DATING IS FUN)
-THE...GUYS IN WHITE THINKING GREGOR IS DANNY PHANTOM. LMAOOO. GET HIS ASS. or,, Elliot. lmfao
-sam saying tucker is part of the package because theyre friends was super sweet <3 but also 'part of the package'...polyships are obviously the solution to these dumb jealousy/love triangle plots.
-danny crashed a whole plane. the collateral damage...
-is he....
Tumblr media
-you know....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.... (ITS NOT GAY IF YOU'RE DOING IT TO PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE YOU'RE NOT, AND LIE TO A GIRL. RIGHT? he was getting a little too into pretending to enjoy tucker's company, and the above...c'mon, guy.)
-lmao, freakshow is in actual prison. I didn't expect a follow up, or for him to show back up! in the finale of this season, too!
-THE SICK TATTOO GHOST IS NAMED LYDIA!!! more Lore On her. freakshow seemed genuinely concerned about her. also, is she mute? I don't think she talked the first time we saw her, either. and we didn't know freakshow 'envied' ghosts, either, the first time, we just knew he was controlling them. interesting!
-...they literally stole the infinity gauntlet from marvel and called it the reality gauntlet. is that legal. what the fuck. even with the gems in the lil slots, having different powers...they had freakshow in jail, but didnt check his pockets??! hes just still in his lil outfit??? what kind of ...oh, its in amity park. yeah, all of the adults are idiots, okay, sure.
-'freakshow!' 'in the anemic flesh!' dude take some iron pills then. also, sure, the red eyes could be contacts for his aesthetic, but the whites of his eyes are yellow! does he have jaundice?! he severely needs more...like, every kind of vitamin. (this is what im worried about as freakshow attacks danny with giant robots)
-again, goth circus is a sick theme, and I love his goth train.
-oh FUCK every single person saw danny transform. on a stage. including his parents via TV. oh god. the guys in white and immediately like 'youre coming in for experiments!' SCARY. at least the crowd is willing to help him to escape...perks of now being a local celeb! even the kids at school are accepting :) this is what, the third time his family has found out? its always been an alt timeline tho. and danny fully intending to just rewrite things again instead of...I dunno, trying to roll with it this time? hes really worried his family won't accept him, huh...
-'maybe our son IS THE GHOST BOY, but its not as if our family's ghostly activities have EVER PUT YOUR FAMILIES IN DANGER' maddie. mmmmmmmmmmmm. okay.
-danny 100% prepared to run away from home because of this :( oh :( and saying his parents are 'looking for him, or a scalpel to dissect him with' ouch...
-THE GUYS IN WHITE TRYING TO ARREST A 14 YEAR OLD. fuck da feds.
-side note (another one about voice actors...) freakshow's voice actor, Jon Cryer, was lex luthor in pretty much every DC tv show, which is why I recognized his voice, because my dad loves those shows so I've seen a good bit of them without seeking them out...)
-the old man saying 'hey, i still had minutes left!' and danny saying 'you gotta watch those roaming charges!' about danny destroying the people in the diner's phones so no one could report seeing him...would kids today understand these things. can you even BUY minutes anymore...I remember my first phone being a flip phone, and the fact I always had minutes when my sister ran out super fast, because I didnt have friends calling or texting me like she did...:/
-the fentons being genuinely like 'why didnt danny trust us and tell us this, we love him :(' and JAZZ LAYING INTO THEM WITH THE 'DISSECTION/MOLECULE BY MOLECULE' LINES. LITERALLLLY. they need to apologize
-technically, lydias stronger than you! -jazz lesbianism moments! when did you even learn her name!!! but also get freakshows ass. lydia is also cooler looking. looove her design sm still.
-jazz psychoanalyzing freakshow... (also, her also having ghost envy? au where jazz is a ghost!! id like to see it)
-im glad the kids still got to go to their respective vacation things, even if they cant really stick around and enjoy them much...
Tumblr media
-furry: confirmed. (also tucker calling her hot. tucker is a furry confirmed)
-danny being mad someone at the comic con is selling comics of him without permission, lmfao. give him his royalties!
-freakshow > thanos because hes a drama clown and does use his gauntlet to be FLASHY AND DRAMATIC.
-jazz's 'USE PYSCOLOGY' to danny about freakshow LMAOO. AND THEN IT WORKING. but, oh, freakshow's ghost form sucks. I like him as a clown better tbh. good thing danny took away his ghost powers!
-his parents hugging him and saying theyre proud :"( and saying 'of course you lied to us, we never gave you a reason not to!' and saying they were in the wrong basically for always talking about hurting ghosts aaaa :""(
-then he WIPED THEIR MEMORIES AGAIN!!! FUCK. I can understand him wiping the goverments/student bodies' memories, but why his parents?? they were being accepting!! ARGHHH. season 3 couldve been them all trying to adjust to them knowing!
-I know, on a meta level the showrunners probably wanted to just reset things to the status quo of him having a secret identity. But. We've been doing that for (2) seasons, I'd love if season 3 could be like, his parents adjusting to this and trying way harder to learn more and accept it (and the shenanigans that could come from that) and for fun, if he didn't wipe the students memories, it could be him being popular for a while, then everyone slowly realizing, oh, he's still Danny. Like. he might have ghost powers but hes Just The Same Guy instead of putting him on a pedestal (and seeing them all try and help him hide it from the giw/people who don't know!!)
-fuck they didn't even explain WHY he wiped everyone except sam, tucker and jazz's memories. he just Did It right when his parents were saying they loved/accepted him!! and sam and tucker didnt question it at all!!! HELLO??? very annoyed about this turn of events.
-anyway. onto season 3! I know its shorter than the first two seasons, and is the last season... I might just do it in 2 bursts if I can... :3c depends on the episodes' content and how much I want to say about each!

Honestly been thinking about making a lil au but also I kinda don't trust myself to write the characters correctly. So I'm gonna instead share my ideas here :D if anyone likes them feel free to use them! Just let me know so I can see your awesome work.
This au is a DP x DC au I've been plotting out an entire plot line for this for months now. It's another Batfam oriented one cause I'm absolutely obsessed with this dynamic
Also warning this is super angsty this contains implied Experimentation/Torture, Dissection, and some major character death
---------------------------------------------------------
It starts with Jason getting discovered by the GIW for having an ectosignature courtesy of the Lazarus pit. Jason ends up getting kidnapped and Batman catches onto this development. Batman has already failed Jason in the worst possible way and no matter what he's not gonna let there be a repeat of it. Batman is on the case! He's going to hunt down whoever kidnapped Jason and save his son no matter what! Jason wakes up in a glass cell where he notices a small thin kid with white hair sitting hugging his knees in the corner of a cell next to Jason's. The kid doesn't look to be doing so hot which ticks Jason off. Soon the two get acquainted and bond over the whole getting kidnapped and experimented on thing. Phantom is managing to keep his secret from the GIW so he's a bit worse for ware especially since the poor kid is starving cause what ghosts need to eat right? Jason is only in there for a week but he and this kid who calls himself Phantom have absolutely bonded and he would go to hell and back for him. Near the end of the week though Jason overhears the GIW scientists talking about Phantom (who has been there longer than he has) they say that Phantom isn't looking too good and that they expect him to soon destabilize. The Scientist plan to get in one last bit of data while they still can which means its off to the dissection table for Phantom. This absolutely ticks Jason off and this guy is absolutely determined to do whatever he can to stop this. Though he isn't successful. However this is the same day Batman manages to find the GIW hideout and raid it with Robin, Red Robin, and Nightwing. They split up to cover more ground. Phantom is the first to be discovered by Red Robin and Nightwing in one of the labs. Phantom is awake enough to manage guiding the two to Jason and they all proceed to break out. Promptly after being free of the GIW Phantom accidentally reveals his secret to the bats by passing out and reverting back to human. They rush to get the kid help opting to take him to Alfred since the kid is clearly some meta with lots of inhuman things going on and absolutely cannot be discovered or else he risks ending up with the GIW again. After some recovery time it's discovered that Danny is a halfa and his parents were killed in an accident (which involved the GIW and actually is what landed him in the facility). Jason has a sit-down with Bruce and asks the guy to please take the poor kid in and help him. Jason has an internal struggle wanting to take the kid in himself but not feeling like he himself is the best option. Bruce can tell Jason cares a lot about the kid and though he hasn't known the meta long and has a strict no metas rule (in which he has absolutely already broken) he decides to agree to take the kid in. Someone needs to protect the poor kid from their messed up government (in which he is totally gonna have to talk to the Justice League about this one) and it might as well be him. And well by the end of everything Danny ends up with a caring family who wants nothing more than to help him and keep him safe.
Hope you guys enjoy my little rant! I've had a few more ideas but for now I'll live it off on this lil rant/prompt

EchoGhost's Phic Phight 2021 Master Post
And in case you missed any, or just like seeing the whole gang together, here is every single fic I wrote for my first ever Phic Phight!
1) Perseverance
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: While Maddie is helping Danny with his homework a notification from his phone becomes a major distraction.
Prompt: PR134 - Danny is sitting quietly next to someone. Maybe he's doing homework with his friends, maybe Jazz is driving him somewhere, maybe he's working on a group project with someone, maybe he's doing something else entirely. He suddenly starts *freaking* the heck out - Perseverance has just landed on Mars, and he just found out about it. How is his reaction perceived by whoever he's with?
2) The Reason You Wail
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: An odd feeling he can't quite explain is haunting Danny. He wants it to stop but he knows it won't, he just knows now.
Prompt: PR054 - As Danny gets older, he doesn't just predict the appearance of ghosts. He starts predicting when someone's going to die.
3) Forget Your Life Story
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Danny woke up with no memory. He didn’t even know his own name. The doctor told him it would come back and his parents were there to help him. He trusts them, even if he doesn't recognize them. Even if some things didn’t quite line up.
Prompt: PR002 - Danny woke up from being in a month long coma with no memory of how he got there or anything about his past. Thankfully, the doctors said that his memory would return eventually, and he had his loved ones nearby to tell him who he was and his life story. However, as his memory slowly returns, there's huge, distinct differences between what he's been told and the things he's remembering.
4) Recreational Botany
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: It wasn't her fault. She was merely curious, had only wanted to help. She didn't mean for this to happen. She just hoped it would wear off soon. (TW: Drug use - Weed)
Prompt: PR228 - Ghost weed.
5) Fool’s Errand (Ghost Prince AU)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: It had been hours since Danny flew off to fight Pariah Dark and Vlad took it upon himself to see what was taking the boy so long.
Prompt: PR065 - After their fight, Pariah Dark decides Danny has all the qualities he wants in an heir and forcibly adopts him. (Danny can either lose the fight to put him back in the Sarcophagus, or Pariah can get out again later.)
6) You Walked Right Into This
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Sometimes walking is more than just walking. (TW: Child Abuse)
Prompt: PR142 - Jack and Maddie seriously injure Danny Fenton, resulting in him being at their mercy and revealing he’s not exactly human. Now the parents have to decide wether to help him... or finish what they started. TW for serious injury and probably gore and angst.
7) What You Fear The Most (Scary Ghost Form AU)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: What if his ghost form was less human-looking? What if he looked every bit the monster his parents had always told him ghosts were?
Prompt: PR035 - Monstrous: AU where Danny's ghost form is monstrous and grotesque. On one hand, he doesn't have to worry about anyone recognizing him; on the other, it might be even harder to convince people that he's a good guy
8) Parallels
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: It's amazing the things you learn on a field trip.
Prompt: PR047 - Wacky reveals (ex: Danny drying up too quickly bc intangibility, Danny's drink stays cool way too long, people's electronic devices are always more charged when they've been near Danny, etc)
9) Cast Into Obsidian (Blind AU)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: The accident sent Danny to the hospital due to the damage to his eyes.
Prompt 01: PR092 - Write a more traditional ghost story. How would things change if ghost powers weren’t super powers, but closer to old horror movie tropes?
Prompt 02: PR259 - The Accident didn’t turn Danny into a half ghost, but instead allowed him to see, hear, and physically interact with the very real ghosts that are now pouring through the portal (Alternative: Danny’s always been clairvoyant, but after the accident he finally sees all of the ghosts he’d grown up talking to)
10) Where The Lines Overlap (Parallels part 2)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Maddie wants to know what her son has been keeping from her and today he finally decides to tell her. (TW: Outsider POV of PTSD flashbacks)
Prompt: PR091 - When he told his parents the truth, Danny had only ever bothered thinking about the stress of potential dissection. With that out of the way, and his secret fully accepted, he realised that there were a lot of unexpected things to adjust to... Write about something funny or awkward as the Fentons learn to live with a half ghost son!
11) Quoth the Librarian, “But I’m Alone?”
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Eleanor loved her job at the school library. She always made sure to come in early to make sure everything was just right before the students came. Today something beat her there.
Prompt: PR234 - Suddenly, there was a knock at the door...
12) The Baldr to My Odin (Ghost Prince AU part 2)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Pariah has recently acquired a son and wants to get to know him better.
Prompt: PR121 - Pariah Dark wakes up from his slumber and tries to live a peaceful existence in his castle practicing his swordsmanship and rebuilding his castle with all modern luxuries. But ghost from the ghost zone keep trying to challenge him to become king.
13) Tagged
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Dr. Flora Santos and her partner Dr. Carlos Rodriguez have lucked out as they have finally caught their most elusive subject.
Prompt: PR090 - Something physical happens to Danny’s body that makes it impossible to keep his secret identity, well, secret.
14) The Paleontologist and The Princess (Dino boy AU)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Danny had one true passion; Paleontology. So can anyone really blame him for getting excited when he thinks he comes face to face with a dinosaur? Even if it isn't a dinosaur after all.
Prompt: PR139 - "Actually, Dad? I wanted to be a paleontologist."
15) Lost In Transmission
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: There's a Ghost Expo happening at Casper High and Danny thinks it'll be fun to see all the incorrect ways people try to find ghosts. He learns the hard way that just because is old, doesn't mean it doesn't work.
Prompt: PRO58 - Casper high is holding a supernatural expo. Supposed paranormal experts are gathered in their gym to show off their expertise. Thinking it'll be a flop, since most employ methods that aren't modern, Danny and his friends go for fun. Only, it turns out that traditional ghost hunting techniques are more efficient than they seem.
16) Dark Familiarity (Role Swap AU)
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Danny has been hunting ghosts for a while now. He has been ever since they ruined his life and a mysterious package arrived with everything he needed to exact his revenge. (TW: Character Death)
Prompt: PR095 - Danny and Valerie role swap (but not personality swap!!). How does Valerie fair as a ghost? How does Danny do as a ghost hunter (and what motivates him to do it in the first place?) [Shipping them is fine, but gen fics are preferred!]
17) I’ve Felt It Too
AO3 or Tumblr
Summary: Ember's having a bad day and Danny tries to help.
Prompt: PR079 - Phantom looked at Ember. Her eyes filled with tears. She gnashed her teeth and screamed. "You don't know what it's like."
And Phantom, with a heavy sigh whispered. "Yeah, I do..."

How much time that has passed between the death and the 'summoning' is up to you!
19) Out Of This World (And Into The Next)
AO3 or Tumblr

Prompt: Everyone hates group projects, and that’s even if you like your group members. Tucker, Danny, and Elliot/Gregor all get teamed up for a group project, and Tucker and Danny need to refrain from killing him.
And as an added bonus I did make a Spotify playlist for this too! There's a song for each fic that I felt best fit the vibe of each story.

Hand in Mine, Into Your Icy Blues
Words: 2872
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Child neglect, implied abuse
Hey hey, you you, prefer reading fics on ao3? https://archiveofourown.org/works/27850118
AU where ghost hunting is a respected profession and captured ghosts are used as tools in order to find other ghosts, *insert Danny angst because I love seeing the boy suffer*
The Fentons are America's top ghost researchers, famous for their work, infamous for their neglectful habits. Jazz finds their newest research subject down in the lab.
It was weird to live with the fact that your parents are “big shots” in their profession when you have to come home to them every day. Especially when you didn’t seem to know your parents at all when all you saw of them were the shadows behind their studies.
Growing up as an only child was, in the nicest way possible, lonely. Which is why Jasmine Fenton found herself raised by the books on her shelf and the curiosity in her heart. Sure, her parents were there at the start, it would be cruel to leave a newborn baby to fend for herself, but the moment she showed signs of independence.
It was fine. Everything she could ever need she could find on her own. She taught herself to cook, to clean, to spell the extra difficult words in her 3rd grade English class, to solve the laborious equations in her honors Pre-Cal class. She earned the food she made, she reveled in the clean citrus smell of her room, she earned the praise from her teachers. And when she found she couldn’t connect to the other students, she just reminded herself that she didn’t need the warm embrace of a mother, the thunderous laugh of a father, nor did she need friends. She could take care of herself.
Which is why she found herself sat in front of the only thing her parents ever shielded her from.
-
It was a sad sight to say the least. It seemed like it was more bruises and taunt broken bones, if it even had bones, than skin. She had always been known for her soft heart, always giving others second chances even when they were undeserving. Which is why she found herself in front of the very thing that shouldn’t ever be shown that kind of weakness.
Apart from the obvious signs of abuse, it was all teeth and claws, snarling at her even now. She was sure that if she were to let it out, it wouldn’t hesitate in killing her and her parents.
The growl that erupted from its chest broke her away from her thoughts. The cold basement floor seemed to get colder as she stared into its eyes. There was a flash of something before his gaze was consumed by guarded anger.
“Hey, it’s okay,” the closer she got the more aggressive it seemed to get, “it’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you. Look!”
She opened her palm to reveal a cookie she had snuck down with her. If Pavlov taught her anything, it’s that the favors of any being, be it a dog or undead monstrosity, can be won over through positive stimuli.
“Here see, I’ll have some too! It’s really good, I’m sure you’ll like it!”
At this point in her life, she wasn’t really sure of anything anymore. Life had been so much easier when her parents were just some far to reach superheroes she barely saw. She used to think like them, that ghosts, if you could even call them that, were just balls of left-over emotion from when a person died. That ghosts were some kind of monster in the closet that her parents could just scare away with their presence. That they were less than the dust bunnies under her bed. But there were skeletons in that closet too. Awful, immoral experiments, living dissections, and the screams. She doesn’t hate her parents, far from it, she loves them with all her heart, but the studies they were a part of? The less empathic members in their field? Hunters? Those were fair game to hate.
She split the cookie into two messy halves, popping one in her mouth as she nudged the other closer to the teeth in front of her. The teeth glared back.
“Okay, I get it, I’ll be on my way, but this isn’t the last you’ll see of me.”
With that, she got up, dusted her jeans off, and with her took the only light present in the basement lab.
She didn’t catch the small ‘thank you’ that followed.
-
Once in her room, Jazz let the tears slip. Whatever was in her parents’ basement was really pulling at her heartstrings. The thing looked to be no older than 15 years old, it was a child. But looks can be deceiving. She couldn’t begin to count how many of these child ghosts had attempted a massacre, how many of them seemed innocent enough to fool someone out of their own free will. Child or not, whatever was in the basement was dangerous. She was playing with fire here. But the look of hurt in his eyes seemed real; felt real. And, if anything, he seemed more at risk of being hurt by her rather than the other way around. He was as thin as a twig and too exhausted to do much of anything. If she could only-
Jazz shook the thoughts out of her head, plopping herself on her bed. Since when had ‘it’ become a ‘he’? And more importantly, why was there fear in his eyes?
“Jazzy pants, we’re home! We’ll be in the lab if you need us. “We left 20 bucks on the dinner table, go ahead and order some take-out for yourself!”
She sighed as she pushed herself off and out of her room. As she dialed the number to the first restraint that came to mind, she couldn’t help her thoughts wandering to the bag of bones locked in the lab just beneath her feet.
“Hi, thank you for calling Shanghai Inn what can I get started for yah?”
“Yeah, can I get some Vegetable Chow Mein and two Egg Rolls please?”
-
By the time her parents had finally stepped out of the lab, the food had long since gone cold. She tiptoed down into the basement and cracked open the door into darkness. There was a green glow and something of a soft hum emanating from something shoved in the corner of the lab. Taking a deep breath, she mustered up the courage to fully plunge into the shadows and crept towards the covered cage. One hand holding a plate of Chinese take-out, she fumbled with her phone until it pierced the darkness.
Almost instantly the hum ceased, again plunging her into a deafening silence.
“Hey, um, I’m back and I brought more goodies!”
There was a sudden sound of rustling before a quiet sniffle was heard. At that, she closed the distance between her and the cage in front of her and she peeled back the sheet over it.
She almost threw up there and then.
It- he was barely holding himself together, literally. He was tightly hugging his bleeding torso. A less perceptive person would’ve pegged it as the remnants of whatever was the creature’s last meal, but Jazz saw the jagged cuts he was trying but failing, to conceal. He’d been vivisected. He’d been vivisected by her own parents.
She dropped to her knees, the meal in her hands forgotten. That seemed to startle him back to reality because he began his growling again. This time a lot more defensive and a lot less forgiving.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay, it’s just me see? It’s just me.” She said as she put her hands up in what she hoped was a universal surrender.
He seemed to study her as his head tilted, growl dissipating. In another life, she would’ve called it cute, adorable even, but right now she was trying her hardest not to scream out of instinctual fear. After he seemed to deem her safe enough to his standards, he went back to picking at his chest, the quiet hum returning to the room.
“I don’t know if you can understand me, like, at all, but I can help you with that,” she pointed to his exposed chest. She hadn’t noticed it when she first walked in, but it seemed to be the source of the soft glow in the room. He was sluggishly bleeding what she guessed was the ectoplasm her parents studied.
Again, he responded with empty eyes and a head tilt.
Were her parents right? Was this an unfeeling killer she was kneeled in front of? Of course they were right, how could she, someone who’s never even thought of looking into ghosts before, compete with the two most respected researchers in the field. Hell, they’ve got to have their PhDs mounted somewhere in this lab. She should’ve known better. She should’ve-
A whine echoed through the lab. She looked up from her lap to find the dead’s eyes locked on her. Once he seemed sure that her attention was on him, he gave a slight nod of his head, gesturing to his shredded torso.
“You want me to help?”
Another nod.
“Okay, alright, that’s good- I mean, not good, but, okay”
She scattered away from the injured boy, mentally making a list of materials she would need to stitch him back up. She would need a first aid kit, naturally, she would also need some kind of suture that would actually hold, the Fenton net might. Her mind was racing, trying to figure out how to do the task at hand. The poor kid wasn’t in any shape to move, so how could she tend to him from outside the cage? Unless-
“Okay, for this to work we’re going to have to trust each other okay?” she paused, was she really going through with this? “I’m going to have to be able to trust that you won’t just randomly decide to kill me and make me your next meal,”
At that, he made an adorably disgusted face. Ancients he was definitely growing on her.
“and you’re going to have to trust me to not cut you open or something, deal?” she pressed her pinkie into the cage. She didn’t know why she did it, it was a childish gesture she grew out of ages ago, she was 18 making a deal for her life for crying out loud, not some child promising friendship, to a dead who probably didn’t even understand the gesture nonetheless.
The boy gave a small smile a wrapped his own pinkie around hers.
“Deal”
It was small, if she hadn’t been overanalyzing his every move, every sound, in fear of her life, she would’ve missed it. But she didn’t.
“You can speak?”
Everything in her parents’ research pointed to the fact that ghosts were incapable of complex thinking, they were just echoes of a former person after all. Yet here this boy was, spitting in the face of her parents’ years of research.
A small nod was all she got in return.
“Okay,” she was starting to think her vocabulary was slowly diminishing to just the word ‘okay’.
“Alright, I’m going to go upstairs and look for what I need to fix, that,” she gestured to him, “I brought this up here,” she said as she picked up the overlooked food, “It’s not much, and not very healthy, but it’s all I have at the moment and It’ll do. Feel free to munch on it all you want, I should be back in a minute, my parents went out with some old college friends and shouldn’t be back till tomorrow afternoon.”
He simply watched her ramble on in fascination. She didn’t know where these mother-hen instincts were coming from, but she wasn’t complaining. The kid was nothing short of adorable.
“uh- anyways, you probably want this,” she said as she pushed the plate into the cage.
She watched in mirrored fascination as he sniffed the food and began eating it. That didn’t faze her though, what caught her by surprise was that he very clearly knew how to use the chopsticks provided with the meal, especially with one hand fighting to keep himself from spilling onto the basement floor.
Leaving him to finish the meal, she set to finding the supplies in her mental checklist. Once she had what she needed, she made her way down into the lab, making sure to swipe the keys hanging by the entrance to the lab.
She unceremoniously dropped everything in front of the ghost boy, startling him into a flinch. She winced.
“Sorry.” She sent a sheepish smile to the kid who sent his very own.
This is the moment she’d been dreading. There was no way she would be able to stitch him back up and keep him locked in the cage. She would have to defy her parents’ one rule. Never trust a ghost. But her parents had been wrong before. They said ghosts can’t feel pain, yet the ghost boy wined every time he placed accidental pressure on his wounds. They said ghosts can’t form complex thought, and yet he could, enough to speak to her at least. They said ghosts don’t need to eat, that they sustained themselves through ectoplasmic energy, yet here he was eating, using chopsticks.
“Okay, I’m going to let you out, but remember our deal,” she could still go back, she could still take all evidence of tonight, lock herself in her room and pretend this never happened. But as she looked into his green eyes, she couldn’t help but noticed the pale freckles splashed over his cheeks, noticed the way his hair frizzed from the dampness in the air, noticed the way her parents had left her with this supposed monster. The monster that was now attempting to balance one chopstick over the other.
“I trust you, and you trust me.”
With that, she unlocked the cage and instinctively stepped back.
She was expecting teeth and claws like when she first came across him, or maybe a slow crawl towards her, what she hadn’t expected was a pair of pinprick green eyes latched onto her in fear. He was scared of her.
She slowly made her way towards him, exaggerating her movements as to not startle him.
“You think I can carry you out of there? It’ll be easier for me to work out here rather than in there.”
There was a stiff nod before she carefully picked him up bridal style. He couldn’t weigh more than 50 pounds which she had no idea whether or not that was in a healthy range for him. Careful to not further aggravate his injuries, she put him down gently onto a clear area on the floor.
“Alright, I’m not going to lie, this is going to hurt, a lot, do you want me to talk to you while I do this?”
A nod.
“Okay, is there anything you like, or do you just want me to talk random?”
There was a hesitant look on his face before speaking for the second time that night,
“I like space.”
“Oh, well, I don’t know too much about space, but I do know some neat stories I can tell you!”
That’s how she found herself telling story after story of the few constellations she knew while stitching up a ghost kid she met not even 24 hours ago. A couple of stitches in and her hands began shaking, but the boy didn’t seem to mind. He was lost in her words and the worlds she was building for him. She hadn’t even noticed she was done until she went for the next stitch only to find an unmarred surface.
“and in his anger, Poseidon created Scylla to wreak havoc on seas and the seacoast!” she waved her fingers at him.
“Cetus”
“huh?”
“He created Cetus, not Scylla, she’s a six headed monster.” he cheekily pointed out, sticking his tongue out for good measure.
“Okay mister know-it-all,” she cheekily grinned, “I think it’s time to head to bed.”
She quickly checked her phone to confirm it was half-past 4 in the morning and way too late (early?) to be discussing sea monsters.
Pocketing her phone, she looked up to see a terrified look yet again plastered on the ghost’s face.
“Please don’t put me back in there!” he wheezed, “I promise I won’t cause any trouble and you won’t have to see or hear from me ever again!”
“Hey, breathe, remember what I said about trust?”
He seemed to make a point of nodding at a neck-snapping speed.
“Well, right now, I can’t trust my parents, so come one, you’re staying in my room until further notice!”
“...really?”
It would be hard. Sneaking in extra food for him, keeping him quiet, hell, just explaining to her parents how the ghost in their lab escaped from right under her nose, was going to be tough. And her parents weren’t stupid. Neglectful? Yes. Valued their work over their own daughter? Understatement of the year. But it was worth a try for him.
And sure, she had always said she was fine being on her own, she had even declined her parents’ attempts to get her a kitten when she was 12, arguing that she was better off on her own, a lone wolf of sorts. But now, looking into the eyes of a kid, ancients he really was just a kid, who’s seen much more pain than she could ever imagine, having a little brother didn’t seem half bad.
“Yeah little bro, let’s go”
